College teams had men as part of their cheerleadING acts, and probably still do. Only those cheer kings wore pants and dressed like men, not in drag.

College cheer-leading was invented at the U of Minnesota (Ski-U-Mah!) before 1900. All males.

Female cheerleading didn’t catch on until WW@, when most men were absent.
