President Barack Obama lied when he said his administration would retaliate if Syria used chemical weapons and claimed he "would promise something and do the opposite", setting the Middle East back 20 years, a former top Saudi official has claimed.
Bandar bin Sultan, who served as the head of Saudi intelligence and later as the Saudi ambassador to the United States, lashed out against Obama in a wide-ranging interview with the Independent Arabia, a newly launched publication in London.
He said that the late Saudi King Abdullah told Obama in their last phone call that “I did not expect that [after] this long life, I would see [the day] when an American president lies to me,” according to the Jerusalem Post.

Slip of the tongue or momentary confusion? In a television interview today discussing his religion, Sen. Barack Obama stated, “My Muslim faith.”
Obama, speaking to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” was talking about what he described as “smears” that were claiming he was a Muslim when he maintains he is a practicing Christian.
“Let’s not play games,” Obama stated. “What I was suggesting – you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come.”
Stephanopoulos immediately interrupted Obama, stating, “Christian faith.”

So we’re supposed to be upset because Obama didn’t launch a full on war against Assad? Maybe Saudi Arabia wanted us to do that, but what was the American interest in doing yet another regime change war in the Middle East? As Trump says, enough interventions in those sand countries - it’s already wasted $6 trillion of our dollars and thousands of our young people.

It was bad enough that Obama, in alliance with McCain, gave support to jihadist rebels in Syria. At least he didn’t start an open war against Assad. If that makes Saudi Arabia mad, too bad
