Civil and criminal crackdowns on polluters dropped sharply in the second year of the Trump administration, according to 2018 enforcement figures released Friday by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The Trump administration EPA says the agency is taking a new tack with polluters, giving states more of a role in regulation and enforcement and stressing education and voluntary compliance with offenders as well as fines and criminal prosecution. […]

The EPA has been one of the most active agencies overall in carrying out the deregulatory goals of President Donald Trump. Environmental and public-health groups say the business-friendly rollbacks place public health and the environment at greater risk.

Jeff Ruch of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility said the newly released 2018 totals show environmental enforcement “entering a near dark age.” …

Two nights in a row of good news just before bedtime.
Last night it was news of a rag murderer cleared for the needle, tho it’s still too bad it was’t something comparable in horror to what the maggot inflicted on ‘his’ victim.

What's the big deal? LA Police enforcement is headed for a big drop too.

If Mayor Garcetti can do it, so can the EPA.

Maybe we can just dissolve the entire agency instead.

Now if we could do the same to the American Gestapo- FBI.

Previous “enforcement” figures probably included a sizable number of cases of extortion which secured large donations to favorite leftist causes.

Since the EPA's definition of a polluter is someone who builds a duck pond on dry land or drains a duck pond from their overly wet land, without asking the King's permission, I'll be happy when the EPA is no longer enforcing anything.

Yes!!! Isn’t it wonderful?

But will it last?

Executive action created the agency and it should abolish it.

Perhaps some reasons that the EPA enforcement is dropping in number of cases is that environmental polluters have gotten the message to clean up their acts; state EPA equivalent agencies have stepped up to take some of the caseload off of the EPA while enforcing similar state codes; and new technology has decreased previous environmental violations.

By the way, some DOJ environmental court cases went on despite the partial but inconvenient government shutdown (thanks to the Dems) and trial prep for one major case was done by a skeleton crew working their asses off to prepare for when the govt opened.

A lot of us who work in this area would have worked without pay (delayed, or in my case as a contractor, using up Paid Time Off or just not getting paid until later). The Dems wouldn’t let this happen.

The insanity of the EPA under both Clinton and Obama has yet to totally see the “light of day”, but good EPA and DOJ workers continue to do their jobs professionally and competently. I should know, I’ve worked with them for over 2 decades and they are great people (even if I privately disagreed with some of the laws/regulations that the EPA promulgated under Clinton and esp. Obama).

The environment is a lot cleaner for their efforts.
