My wife didn’t think girls in Boy Scouts is a big deal.

I was in Boy Scouts, and I DO see it as a “big deal”

My husband and I also differ, but we are the opposite. I said, when our boys first started in Boy Scouts, that I didn’t want to be a part of it because I think men can do a much better job of teaching boys to be men than women can. I also think that men benefit from a female-free zone, an opinion that raises eyebrows among my fellow females, especially given my career choice of electrical engineer. Since our sons had a perfectly manly dad for the task, I would leave it to him and our daughter would be my sidekick in other pursuits. I have never been a big fan of women in boy scouts because, although there are women who can be quite harmonious in such an environment and can even add a nice touch to the setting, it only takes one or two toxic feminists to ruin the whole thing.

Initially, he felt the way I did, but his opinion on the subject altered as he saw that more women were joining and of course they made the decision to allow girls in. He doesn’t see it as a bad thing right now. His reasoning is that Girl Scouts is a smoldering ruin and there is nowhere for girls to go that is similar to Boy Scouts, so it makes sense to let them in. I agree that Girl Scouts is a corrupted organization, but it has not moved the needle for me.

I looked at FFA, 4H, Heritage Girls and didn’t find a fit for my daughter and me. Heritage Girls did look like a wholesome organization, but the ladies at the troop I inspected seemed too preachy and the bossiness of it turned me off. I do agree that girls could use somewhere to plug into that is equivalent to the vintage BSA experience, especially if their moms aren’t as engaged in one on one parenting as I am, but where girls go, “Girl Power” also shows up and it won’t be long until they are shouting “toxic masculinity” and the boys will have to capitulate to their whims. It is happening, unchecked, all over our society right now. Because they have relaxed the rules, the days are numbered for BSA or SA or whatever they are calling it now.

My husband agrees with part of his mind, but he is truly hoping for the best and I have promised to hold my tongue to keep from dampening his optimism. It doesn’t help that our family is one of the only conservatives ones left in the troop. The Lefties have moved in and their twisted logic is eventually going to destroy anything good that remains in it. I am sure it is just a matter of time before they’ll have to add some rainbow stripes to their snazzy new troop trailer. Our youngest son will, hopefully, Eagle out by the end of the year anyway and then it won’t be my problem any more.

Official BSA Video......

January 28, 2019
For years, many young women have looked on while their fathers and brothers took part in amazing Boy Scout adventures – adventures those young women wished they, too, could experience.

With the launch of the Scouts BSA program on February 1, that familiar story has a new, fun-filled twist as young women prepare to join new Scouts BSA girl troops that are getting revved up in communities right now.

Watch the video below, and download it from the BSA Brand Center to share on your own social media channels.

This post is to inform those who put forth sour grapes in total ignorance

7 I still don’t understand why the boy scouts decided to do this, call themselves just the scouts, and accept girls. Why does every institution in life, have to cater to liberals or pressure groups , to justify their existence? ...

In the case of the "new" Scouts BSA, it is all about the $$$. Membership in the former BSA's premier youth program, i.e., troops for boys 11-17 yoa, peaked in 1973 and has been steadily declining ever since. A few months ago it was announced that Scouts BSA was in danger of going broke because of the cost of the sexual abuse lawsuits being filed since the 1980s.

I still don’t understand all the complaints coming from conservatives.

Boy Scouts has become SCOUTS. So what. A title change.

Girls can now be part of their own SCOUTS organization. No boys needed.

Boys are still part of their own SCOUTS organization. No girls allowed.

Some Troops might be started as coed.

It reduces the number of Girl Scout organizations. Another good thing.

Conservatives should be the ones complaining about this. BSA fought the concept of embracing the coarse common culture for over 100 years, even to the point of winning a Supreme Court decision to allow them to limit their membership.

In 2013, in a secret vote, the caved to allow homosexual boys. Not long after in uncertain order, homosexual adult leaders, transgender and female youth.

It’s a perfect example of the slippery slope theory. Once you cave on one core principle, there is no moral authority to not cave on any of them.

As they grow up, boys need to be boys and need strong male mentorship. Take one look at the black community to see what a complete lack of male influence and authority begets.

A Cub Scout leaders was quoted as saying he prefers girls because they are more genteel and focused, ie: easier to control.

I saw a video clip the other day of a little girl on a slide, slowly sliding down and gently putting her feet on the ground and walking away. Immediately, her brother comes blowing off the slide arms and legs flailing as he rolls headfirst onto the ground.

That’s the difference between boys and girls. Boys need to be with boys.

Scouting is supposed to be boy led. Some believe that in the not too distant future, the majority of troops will be led by female youth because girls are generally a bit more organized in the teen years than boys. This will accomplish nothing but to deprive young men of their chance and opportunity to lead other young men.

Thankfully, there is an option that is directly antithetical to the common culture, Trail Life USA, which is a boys only program and above the age of ten, requires adult male leadership so men can model manhood. traillifeusa.com

A well thought out post...

My objection to females in Boy Scouts is not anti-women...I just value the concept of an all male environment at an age where a lot of boys are still mentally rounding into shape.

Females can interrupt a young man's environment and thought processes, and that isn't meant as a perjorative towards women...it is just recognition of a fact.

I suppose other guys were like me, but I went through the better part of ten years where I couldn't think of much else but females, especially when they were around.

My body was simply screaming at me.

I have often said I wouldn't mind going back to 17 years old and having that healthy body again, but if they wouldn't let me take my mind and learned experiences along, you couldn't pay me money to go back.

It was like having loud stereo speakers blaring in my brain that only I could hear, and it was saying "GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS!"

Me listening in history class:

TEACHER: In The Panic of 1873, a major economic reversal began in Europe and reached the United States in the fall of 1873. The signal event on this side of the Atlantic was the failure of Jay Cooke and Company, the country's preeminent investment banking concern...

ME: (vacant eyes, mouth hanging open) "GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS!"

TEACHER: Mr. Rlmorel, what else was going on in 1873? Mr. Rlmorel? Mr. Rlmorel?

ME: "GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS! Huh? What? Er...ah...GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS!

TEACHER: Mr. Rlmorel, see me after class please. You obviously cannot learn within class, we can discuss membership in our special after school study group to help you along.

In my troop and other large troops, Scouts is a family activity in which daughters have tagged along. Now they can participate in advancement and leadership activities. (it has not yet actually come about but it will)

Over the years there are quite a few of registered women as assistant scoutmasters or troop committeemen. Some even have made the effort to take the extensive Wood Badge training.

We have an integral venture crew for what we call senior scouts that are high adventure oriented. They are backpackers. Girls 14 and over can participate and have for some time now. There are not lots of them mind you but they are members of the troop. In 2017, we had our first wedding of troop scouts. Both finished college and then got married.

From my point of view, small marginal troops have been lost. They suffered from inadequate adult leadership and often did not actually organize themselves according to the BSA method. Adults often did not trust the boys to lead.

The large troops thrive and use the patrol method for organization and leadership training. It works well. We have about an equal split between scouts and scouters. The numbers for each are 65 or 70 scouts and scouters. The adults are not all active but still contribute as merit badge counselors or with some specific talent.

We have an active program of out door activities. there are trips to all sorts of places. We have been featured in Boys Life three times. The most recent article noted a hike up the mountain to the Machu Pichu ruins. Another article featured an overnight on a nuclear missile submarine. We have crews that often visit Sea Base in the Keys and Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. We will send a group to the upcoming National Jamboree.

Folks here rant and rave about the immoral BSA. Presently, we are learning that there are more queers in the Los Angeles diocese than in all of BSA put together. Unlike BSA, churches do not have very effective youth protection programs that alert the group to abuse by adults be they Scouters, priests or choir directors.

Our sponsoring institution is a Presbyterian church

Your experience matches ours very closely. My son was SPL of a troop of over 100 Scouts and achieved Eagle both at 14 1/2 years old. He’s 16 and will go to Philmont this year after last year’s got cancelled.

Our Troop does wonderful high adventure trips as well as Philmont and Sea Base every year.

Sisters have occasionally tagged along on outings. Now a couple ASMs are splitting off to start an all girls troop. Same sponsoring church, just different night.

My mother was a Cub Den Leader back in the 1960’s.

A lot of people complain about what Scouts are doing these days. But on the ground, where it matters, the Troop still has strong spirit and is run by amazing leaders that would not allow the crap that the trolls accuse Scouts of doing.

There are a number of alternatives, but yes, Trail Life is among them.

From the article:What about the gender confused boys? Will they be allowed to go camping with the girls? And will gender confused girls be allowed to go camping with the boys?

Ah, questions. Hard questions.

I hear you. And on the flip side, the girls have a similar problem. Some of them are so boy crazy that they are nearly as distracted as you describe being. All the primping and the hair flipping and the coquettish behavior are the milder symptoms. Don’t even get me started on the slutty way girls are dressing on school campuses. They are so clearly advertising and no male in range, regardless of his age, can help but notice. Yes, boys and girls could both do with a little less sexual distraction when they are trying to learn important life lessons. Adding girls to boy scouts will have its price.

It doesn’t say in the link, just Wayne co.

Wayne county MI. is just over the Ohio line in Michigan and it’s the most populist county in the state.

So it’s still unclear what state.
