Well, I am now not a big fan of shutting down the government again as Trump let that already slide. However, this deal stinks and I think Trump should now try going it alone and see if the courts will let him use the other funds.

Sure thing. “Don’t read it, just sign it quickly!” When you’re dealing with faithless people you’d be wise to count the silverware.

And, oh BTW, I am to most people on this db a RINO. And, if I think this bill stinks then you gotta say to yourself, it stinks.

If he signs it, he wouldn’t be able to override the restrictions with an emergency. He’d only be able to add money to the project.

I think.

It doesn’t matter if he signs it or not. Once again his best friends in the GOP have him roped and hog tied. Enough of the Republicans in Congress would vote to override his VETO.

Let them do it. Trump just needs to cite the reasons he is vetoing it. That will leave congress holding the ball, as it should be.

"Since when is not shutting the government down the lodestone for all public policy?"

This is how congress (both sides) now shuts down all debate on the massive deficit spending the bills create. Wait until the last second and submit a monster spending bill forcing any opposition to choose between blindly passing a bill they don't have time to read or shutting down the government. (and taking all the political hits that engenders). This is why we will have trillion dollar (soon to be multi-trillion dollar) yearly deficits from now on. How long can you go on spending trillions of dollars of imaginary money every year before the bottom falls out? There's a hard rain gonna fall, if not in my lifetime then certainly in my children's.
