Grassley has been in the senate since 1981, part of the problem.
Trump has a 52% approval AFTER a 35-day shutdown. This amnesty-riddled bill is designed to cripple him for 2020. He has no choice but to block it...and another shutdown won’t hurt him.
I see, so in other words, “We won’t and can’t actually protect the average US citizen from an invasion from the South, but we can send billions in aid to other countries, and as such, President Trump should just accept that as both normal, and good.”
