What does John Roberts think? He’s evolved into the swing vote between the liberals and the more conservative justices.

I’m assuming that the four hard liberals will all vote that it is unconstitutional to ask about citizenship.

So John Roberts could well be the deciding vote.

Let me save Roberts the trouble...

The liberal justification will be this: asking this question forces people into self-incrimination, which is unconstitutional. Therefore, the question violates the Fifth Amendment protection and must be removed.
