At least 38 paramilitary police officers were killed by a massive car bomb in Indian-controlled Kashmir in the worst attack on security personnel since the start of the insurgency in the disputed region three decades ago.
The attack occurred Thursday afternoon about 3:15 p.m., police officials said, as a security convoy of 70 vehicles traveled down a major highway toward the city of Srinagar.
An explosives-laden vehicle driven by a suicide bomber rammed into a bus carrying dozens of paramilitary personnel, said Sanjay Sharma, a spokesman for Indias Central Reserve Police Force.
The killings will inflame tensions between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan, which both claim the Himalayan territory of Kashmir. India accuses Pakistan of sheltering and supporting militants that cross into Indian-controlled territory to carry out attacks against Indian rule.
Jaish-e-Mohammed, or Army of Mohammed, a militant group that seeks to merge Indian-held Kashmir with Pakistan, claimed responsibility for Thursdays attack.
A statement issued Thursday by Indias Foreign Ministry pointed the finger at the countrys neighbor. The leader of Army of Mohammed has been given full freedom by the government of Pakistan to carry out attacks in India and elsewhere with impunity, it said. A spokesman for Pakistans government said on Twitter that it strongly rejected any insinuation linking the attack to Pakistan without investigations.

Well here’s two countries that should have nukes :)
I don’t know which side got them first and of course any enemy of a muslim country that has them, needs them.
But Both are quick to get nukes to the front lines when tensions flare up.
That could end bad one day.
Thanks BenLurkin.

Very big deal!
They blame Pak, reasonably. Iran blames Pak for recent terror attack.
Lot going on there.
“US condemns Kashmir attack, tells Pak to end safe haven to terrorists”
The White House asked Pakistan to immediately end support and safe haven to all terror groups as it strongly condemned the Pulwama terrorist attack.
Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack in Jammu and Kashmirs Pulwama district on Thursday that left at least 44 personnel dead and many critically wounded.
The United States calls on Pakistan to end immediately the support and safe haven provided to all terrorist groups operating on its soil, whose only goal is to sow chaos, violence, and terror in the region, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a late night statement on Thursday.
This attack only strengthens our resolve to bolster counterterrorism cooperation and coordination between the United States and India, she said in a strongly-worded statement issued by the White House.
