State prosecutors in New York are preparing a criminal case against Paul Manafort, the former chairman of President Donald Trump's campaign, in the event that Trump pardons him for federal crimes, Bloomberg News reported.
According to the report, Cyrus Vance Jr., the New York district attorney, is gearing up to file tax and accounting charges against Manafort if Trump exercises his pardon power.
The Constitution grants the president authority to pardon federal crimes but not state crimes. Manhattan prosecutors have been investigating Manafort since 2017, months before the special counsel Robert Mueller charged the former Trump campaign chairman with failure to register as a foreign agent, failure to report foreign bank accounts, and conspiracy.

NYS should prosecute AOC for losing tens of thousands of jobs in NY and billions of tax revenue. Whatever Manafort did is completely trivial compared to the hatchet job she did on NYS.
Must be different charges. Manafort can not be tried for the same crimes he has plead to. See Fifth Amendment.

A state prosecutor has the option to pursue charges against an individual regardless of whatever may happen on the federal level.
When is Hillary going to get charged?
We must overthrow this political justice idea the democrats/deep staters now have in effect.
Unfortunately that is no longer true in our new and better Amerika. The supreme court has signed off on the legal fiction that these are different (state) charges is'a A-OK to try someone a second time for the same crime.
Personally, I think this kind of thing makes our government look like it's filled with a bunch of vindictive schoolgirls, not even considering what should be the Constitutional issues involved.

I have an associate who made the statement "another one bites the dust" when Roger Stone or someone like him was arrested. He quoted the number of Trump associates arrested/indicted. When I saw a line up on CNN, I realized that was where he was getting his info. CNN does not accurately report the conditions of these "process crimes" etc., and the fact that deep state/Hillary/Obama associates and administration leakers etc., are never investigated nor charged.
