“Baby, the car won’t start. It’s your sweater, it has to go...”

certain chemical compounds released by everyday products such as cosmetics, fabric softener or car polish could cause parts to malfunction.

Pot Smoke? No wonder the roadway shoulders in VT. are littered with these cars.

“If you drive a Subaru, you may want to avoid wearing perfume ...”

Won’t be a problem for feminists - it’s hard enough to convince them to put on deodorant.

“wearing perfume or a sweater treated with fabric softener—they could prevent the engine from starting.”

Well, thats a bit of a defect.

Curious IF it has something to do with the much bally-hoo’d alcohol sensors demanded by well intended liberals to prevent they whom may intend to drive while intoxicated from being able to start their vehicles?

I LOVE my Subaru. Luckily, mine is a 2015 ‘Legacy’ which appears to be unaffected by any of this.

All seriousness aside, though — I was not allowed to read the bulk of the article so I still don’t know what sensor is detecting aromas, nor what interlock is causing malfunctions.

This is bizarre. I wonder if farts bring the thing to a screeching halt.
