Exactly! If there is a real shortage, you see wage growth, and without increased productivity, a reduction in profits, and thus the “precious” stock market takes a short term hit as they pay more wages. I really think it’s a mistake of this administration to focus so much on the Dow Jones. Wages vs cost of living are better measures.

Lou Dobbs was furious last night about the meeting with Apple’s Cooke.

I retired as an engineer, and I can tell you a lot of us were out of work when we got older and made better pay.

Wage increases were supressed because of Indian and other Asian help the Silicon valley folks H1b Visa over here working for 35% less money and without benefits.

Apple made all its phones and other consumer devices in China assembled by workers making Coolie wages, then they charged inflated prices here in America and paid virtually no Fed income taxes. Good deal for them but not America.

Now they want to hire H1b and make phones here. Don’t they
know that the H1b guys are spies sent to get jobs and steal intellectual property?

I campaigned almost every day for Trump and I agree with Lou Dobbs this is a betrayal of America first.

Wages cannot support the inflated US housing market much longer IMHO. I hope I see the residential housing market collapse in my lifetime. WE DESERVE IT.

And yet he’s making it tougher to apply for H1b’s and has multiple Senators begging him to let in more - like both of Maine’s Senators last week.

We of course need far less imported labor. A tight labor market is a good thing. Real wages rising for the first time in decades is a good thing. Corporate lobbyists won’t like it but the vast majority of Americans will.

H1B salary is set rather low in light of the fact that H1B workers are trapped in their jobs for several years (four I think?)

Or until they bring their wife or girlfriend over from their homeland, get her pregnant where she pops out a kid in a hospital near you or me. Instant citizen and he never has to leave because of family reunification. And then the whole family from their village in Pakistan or India comes. Then the buy a house and put it in their elderly parents name so they get a reduction in property taxes, all while 15 of them live in the same house.

The rest of the world makes a mockery of our country and our laws.

Someone on free republic said yesterday

"The Republican Party is an answer to a question nobody asked."

I really like that. That would make a great tag line.

I can’t argue with anything you said.

But I would tell you that we, as a country, face far greater and more immediate problems that what you described, even though I agree with you, I’m against that, and it is clearly not America first.

We have actual Evil running amok right in front of our faces.

And we have -one- person fighting it.

Unless and until we solve our Evil as all Hell government problem, the H1b visas problem isn’t really going to matter in the long run.

Letting the drug dealers out
Letting the H1B’s in
Ivanka’s many women’s entrepreneurial initiatives

I don’t understand how any of this is Conservative.

Topic for discussion — Should patriots be against ALL immigration? Believe it or not, all immigrants aren’t poverty stricken, pro-socialist undesirables from Latin America or Hati. Or serious Muslims who want to vote Christian’s out of their religion. Many of them raise kids with better work habits than our own kids. And should we shed any tears when socislist, gender-hostile high tech workers are replaced by foreigners who have more respect for America than the Seattle whites with whom they would be competing? (Please don’t flame me.)

The fight isn’t left vs. right. The existential fight is now globalism vs. nationalism. Does it mean anything to be an American citizen anymore? Does it have any value? Or is citizenship, once a duty, now a liability?

I have friends who worked for Disney as programmers and got laid off. They were replaced by less capable foreign workers and had to train them in order to get severance pay.

And you know that our kids just getting out of school with STEM training have lots of loans and scant job offers.

My kids just built their own computer, they know this stuff
and our leaders are selling them out.

When wages are increasing at +6% annually we can BEGIN to discuss LEGAL immigration.

If H1-Bs are truly needed, they are a steal at 50% over going rate.

As it is, they come in at $60,000 and bring down the going rates.

Michael Cohen’s testimony made 63% believe Trump committed a crime, giving fuel to impeachment efforts in the House. Mitch McConnell is abandoning Trump and the wall because of this; the Chamber of Commerce money is more important to lawmakers than what Americans want and need.....

No, it’s not working.

The President’s poll numbers are soaring to the chagrin of his smelly adversaries.

The ‘journalism’ industry is laying off its loudmouth drones telling them “learn to code”, a sign they are not useful and not wanted.

But they still show their idiocy on tweets and blogs and reasonable people can see right through it. They had their day, it’s coming to an end, rapidly.
