On Monday, 11 March 2019. Governor Matt Bevin of Kentucky restored Constitutional Carry to the State of Kentucky.
Bevin signed Senate Bill 150 into law Monday. It allows Kentuckians 21 and older who can lawfully possess a firearm to be able to conceal it without a permit.
Governor Bevin explained the law does not create a right, it only reaffirms the Constitution. From oann.com:
The governor emphasized the measure doesn’t grant the right to carry a gun, but instead he explained it reaffirms the constitution.
“This is a bill that recognizes as part of Kentucky law, once it is the law, once I have signed it, which I will, it recognizes the Second Amendment of the United States,” said Bevin. “That’s it, it doesn’t break new ground, it simply says that people do have the right to keep and bear arms.”
States started infringing on the Second Amendment when they restricted concealed carry after the Supreme Court ruled the Bill of Rights did not apply to the state governments in 1833.
In 1822, the Kentucky Supreme Court ruled that a ban on carrying concealed arms was unconstitutional under the Second Amendment and the Kentucky State Constitution in Bliss v. Commonwealth of Kentucky.
In Kentucky, a Constitutional amendment was deemed necessary to make the general carry of concealed weapons illegal. The Constitutional Amendment to allow the legislature to regulate the concealed carry of weapons passed in 1849,

I’ll still need my permit for it’s reciprocating value. Unfortunately my constitutional rights are only reciprocated in some states.

The Georgia Statehouse is strongly red. Unfortunately the leadership are a bunch of RINOs. The Speaker of The House David Ralston is going to likely block HB2 from being sent to the floor for a vote. The good news is there is big push for him to resign due to allegations of abuse of power. The new Governor Brian Kemp says he will sign it if it gets to his desk.
Every time I see what he’s doing, I’m left thinking “I want this guy for President in 2024.”
Lawfully? Since the 2nd Amendment is the law of the land, there is no way it can be unlawful to possess a firearm. Anyone who cannot be trusted to be armed should not be running around loose.
Absolutely. He’s got the same “I’m doing what I’m doing because it’s the right thing to do” attitude.
The reality is that there are a large number of convicted felons released from prison who we don’t fully restore civil rights to, including voting and firearms ownership.
If a convict is paroled, I don’t think they should have their full rights, as the are still serving their time under a conditional release.
But if they have served their full time, then I am fine with them having their full rights restored.
Here in New Jersey the most common gun "crime" is owning one without permission from the almighty state!
He ran against the turtle and lost. I voted for him and think he will be great when he does run, I’m hoping he becomes president.
