Mexico has one gun shop. So how come all the murders?[video](anti-US slant)
BBC News ^ | 19th March 2019 | Angélica M Casas

There were more than 33,000 killings in Mexico in 2018 - but there's only one legal gun store in the country.

US weapons are feeding the crisis in Mexico - as is a high demand for drugs in the US.

0bama and Eric Holder’s program to force US gun stores to sell to people who would run guns to Mexico is the reason.

So is it the United States' fault that El Salvador has so many murders? Honduras? Brazil?

Latin America has a huge murder problem. The BBC's argument would hold weight if Mexico was an anomaly in Latin America, but it's not, at all.

Looking at your chart, looks cultural to me.

There’s good reason to fear the peoples of the South......

#5: "So is it the United States' fault that El Salvador has so many murders? Honduras? Brazil?"

Good chart.

Genetics appears to have something to do with these rates. Lack of impulse control and inability to see the cost/benefit of aberrant behavior seems to be programmed into the DNA of the people in these countries.

For example, someone "disrespects" you, so you kill him. Consequence? 40 years living in a cage with other animals. What's the cost/benefit compared to just walking away from trouble? Somehow they can not visualize the future which results from the consequences of their actions. They live totally in the immediate present.

So, the legal guns aren’t responsible.

The corrupt government allows(ed? At least it did under Vicente Fox) the cartels to secretly import container loads of weapons on a regular basis, including fully automatic and RPGs. I don’t know if it is an official Chinese government operation, but they usually come off of Chinese ships and usually at Lázaro Cárdenas.

 photo grenades launchers tj.jpg

This article is total BS.

On March 10, 2019 in Tijuana, Mexican Armed Forces along with Mexican Police arrested a man who along with 30kg of cocaine - 2 grenade launchers; 6 fragmentation grenades; 3 40mm grenades; 9 assault rifles; 3 silencers; 4 bulletproof vests.

Tell me where a civilian in the US can buy this kind of weaponry?

The narcos make Billions of $ every year. They don't need straw buyers. They get their weaponry "wholesale".

Must be all the left over guns of Pancho Villa’s from olden times. Did they really expect all those guns to go away just because Pancho died and they outlawed ‘em? NO!, if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. j/k

But seriously, I’d like to know how many of the guns involved in modern murders are modern guns? Anyone keeping track of that? If not, it seems to me to be a bit of a stretch to blame America.

why does the BBC assume it’s only US-manufactured guns brought directly from the US used in Mexico? How many are from Central America brought in with non-US guns by gun traffickers? And then there’s Russia messing about in Mexico, from Trotsky to current times, and mostly involving arms sales, legal and illegal.

for instance, ATF data: non-US guns traced, Central America, 2016:
Belize: 40%
El Salvador: 51%
Guatemala: 71%
Honduras: 54%
Panama: 61%

They found that the Mexican military was selling weapons to the cartels, even the police.

The country is corrupt to the core. They can’t blame that on the US.
