Without The Electoral College, The United States Is No Longer A Republic

During the dying days of the Roman Republic, with effete senators stabbing each other in the back when they were not busy in orgies, Julius Caesar followed the exact trajectory of a Leviathan—what Thomas Hobbes described beautifully hundreds of years later. Caesar, by this time opposed to the Senate, which obstructed his imperial aims, decided to cross the river Rubicon, thereby declaring war on the last vestiges of the craven republic.

After crossing the river, Caesar famously said Alea Eacta Est, or the die is cast. Thus crossing the Rubicon is now considered a revolutionary act that aims to destroy the status quo, structure, and balance, from which there’s no return. The only way forward is through chaos.

The current Democratic presidential frontrunners, with their war cries of Electoral College abolition and reduction of the voting age, signify another crossing the Rubicon moment. That’s because without the Senate, and without the Electoral College, there would be no states in the United States of America. Essentially, there would be no republic anymore. And if history is a good teacher, every time there was direct democracy, it has led to a Caesar—or worse. Warren Opened Up a Foolish Can of Worms

“My view is that every vote matters. And that means get rid of the Electoral College,” said Elizabeth Warren, the most tedious and hopelessly fraudulent of all Democratic candidates, in what could be an exemplary sentence of meaningless tautology. Of course every vote already matters, but that doesn’t make a good catchphrase.

I also received this via email. Short & sweet & perfect for sharing...

"Subject: 319 Square Miles"

In their infinite wisdom, the United States' Founders created the Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented. Why should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the nation?

There are 3,141 counties in the United States. Trump won 3,084 of them. Clinton won 57.

There are 62 counties in New York State. Trump won 46 of them. Clinton won 16.

Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes. In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond) Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles. The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles. When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who Inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.

Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) DO NOT & SHOULD NOT speak for the rest of our country!

And...it's been verified and documented that those aforementioned 319 square miles are where the majority of our nation's problems foment.

Well worth the 39 seconds to read? Now please pass it!

“Without The Electoral College, The United States Is No Longer A Republic”

Absolutely, it would then be a Democracy and something that was never intended by the framers to ever happen.

This would guarantee either the collapse of the country, or tyranny. For what reason would a family in rural Oklahoma have to remain connected to a country ruled by mobs in New York City and Los Angeles?

Nonsense. This chart was completely debunked yesterday and should be met with hoots of derision. Spend 15 minutes checking the census figure for these states and Los Angeles, and then go hang you head in shame.

It’s called “The United States,” not “The United Citizens.”

There are 3,141 counties in the United States. Trump won 3,084 of them. Clinton won 57. There are 62 counties in New York State. Trump won 46 of them. Clinton won 16.

This is why I've been suggesting that instead of eliminating the Electoral College or bypassing it with schemes like the National Popular Vote compact, we incorporate electoral colleges in the several states instead.

My plan is to encourage state legislatures to exercise their Constitutional powers to choose the method of selecting Electors, and move to establishing state electoral colleges based on the lower chamber of their legislatures. Let the party that controls the Assembly select their Electors to the Electoral College.

The people still vote, but locally. The biggest cities in each state will no longer dominate the state. The Assembly itself will act as a statewide electoral college that gives all regions of each state a voice.

This plan also denies the National Popular Vote compact a statewide Presidential vote tally to be used for the compact's purposes. It would be grossly inappropriate to declare that the cumulative Assembly votes constitutes a proxy for the President, as each local vote for Assemblyman is based on local issues, and cannot be interpreted to be the voters' sentiment for the President.

Absolutely. And that’s the whole problem, not only would it disenfranchise 49% of the voters, but it would eventually through law force a culture and lifestyle on another culture. It will become “one size fits all” based on a completely failed city culture.

And that failed culture is why we don’t live in the city.

while that is true, it masks the real problem with our parties and the electorate; the Pubs cannot win the popular vote...

It would be nice to see a map with all of the latest numbers.

That would be interesting. Had no idea so many were in Los Angeles County.

It’s why the Democrats want more illegals (of course).

The demographic time-bomb - and still 1/2 of America is completely clueless.

No doubt some of them want the collapse of the country and tyranny.

Their mistake is not understanding that people who do not agree will not simply go along with it.

Few people outside of Los Angeles or New York City will want them making all the decisions.

Those that want this seem clueless what they will bring about if they get this done.

That’s why they want 16-year-olds to vote. Increase the level of non-knowledge of the risks and dangers.

Since its inception the Democrat party has inveighed against the Constitution and the Republic it birthed. In every way imaginable the Democrat party is the longest lasting enemy of the United States Republic.
- It sided with England during the Revolution.
- It went to war against the US government under the rubric of dissolution of the states in the Civil War.
- It marshaled the enemies of the nation in a political war that led to the Great Depression.
- It sought to buy the votes of minorities with Great Society programs during both the Roosevelt and the Johnson presidencies.
- It turned the power of government against conservatives and patriots under the Obama regime.
The Democrat party is the party of deception, fraud, and every form of corruption.
As Lincoln went to war against the Democrats so Trump is warring against the self same foul enemies of the republic. This time, we can pray, they will finally be eradicated from the body politic.
