Netanyahu, who was in the U.S. capital to meet President Trump and give a since-scuttled speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference, called the Monday morning rocket launch in the agricultural community of Mishmeret a criminal attack and vowed to strike back hard.
"There has been a criminal attack on the State of Israel and we will respond forcefully," he said. "In a few hours, I will meet with President Trump. I will return to Israel immediately afterward."
In addition to the canceled AIPAC address, Netanyahu also scrapped meetings with congressional leaders.

My prayers are with the people of Israel. America must always stand with Israel!
I think Hamas said the rocket launch was a mistake so everything is OK now
Another olive branch from the Paleosimians?
Gee, what a surprise.
When I was still in undergrad (right when IAW/BDS had just become the most hip and trendy campus movement), I actually met one particular yo-yo, who, in all seriousness said that the ‘solution’ to the problem was that Hamas and Hezbollah needed to be officially armed and outfitted to the same level as the Israeli military, up to and including being given nuclear bombs. Then, he claimed, the AshkeNAZI Khazar occupiers (his own words), would be forced to deal with the actual owners of the land they stole as ‘equals’.
If the Israelis accept this as a mistake there will be many more incoming “mistakes”.
Ripped from the pages of Tom Clancy.
Oooops, we dropped that torpedo by mistake. The swabby who pushed the wrong button will be properly rewarded ....errr... punished.
As Amir has said elsewhere, Israel might be about to make a few mistakes of its own.
Israels enemies are pressing for a Final Solution.
I think he may have been planning to meet with Borsalino as well but had to cancel that. There’s lots of flak coming at Borsalino from his own people because of his idea of moving the Brazilian embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
And Hamas will now duck behind the civilian population and have human shields.
Why must we do that? I heartily wish them the best of luck, but we give them billions of dollars in weapons and cash and get little or nothing in return. I hope we dont shed blood on Israels behalf in addition to the moola, considering that theyve never bothered to help us out with our various wars in their vicinity.
C’mon folks—lets use some common sense here.
Terrorist attacks on Israel are _very_ common.
Israeli leaders leaving the country before addressing AIPAC and Congressional leaders is very _uncommon_.
I have a theory as to what is actually going on here—but I am not going out on that limb alone.
Think, Freepers. You can figure this out!
America should step out of the way and let Israel go full out!
Hamas is, as the old saying goes, “Pulling on trouble’s braids”
“I think Hamas said the rocket launch was a mistake so everything is OK now,”
They, (Hamas) knows it’s coming, big time. All I can say is go get em’ Bibi.
The Hamas attack was timed to force Netanyahu to cut short his visit.
Had he addressed the AIPAC conference, Netanyahu would have:
Denounced the antisemitism of Ihlan Omar, Tlaib, and AOC and the general drift toward antisemitism in the Democrat party.
Called on American Jews to abandon their blind loyalty to the Democrats.
Condemned the 2020 Dem hopefuls as the moral cowards they are for boycotting AIPAC.
Initiated Jexodus on the spot.
I’ll bet the DNC signaled Hamas, “he’s going to rip us to shreds at AIPAC next week, you’ve got to do something NOW!!”
Ben needs to stop dancing on their strings. He doesn’t need to be there.
You got half of it... :-)
“Why must we do that” Because God said so.
Just to clarify—Netanyahu would have had a very tough message to deliver to Democrats—and he did not want to do so in public.
Half of it concerned the anti-Semitism in their party.
And the other half—(imho he is telling them to stop the Trump bashing and move on..)
