New York Democratic Rep. José E. Serrano announced Monday that he has Parkinson’s disease and will not seek re-election in 2020.

The 75-year-old said he plans to finish his current term, which is his 15th full one in Congress, as the disease has not yet impacted his ability to work.

“Today, I am announcing that I am living with Parkinson’s disease,” Serrano said in a statement. “After my diagnosis, I initially planned to continue my work representing the people of the South Bronx far into the future — a responsibility that brings me great joy."

At every new Congress, Serrano introduces two amendments to the Constitution. The first is to repeal the 2nd Amendment, and the second is to repeal the 22nd Amendment.

If there is not a great replacement in 2020 , AOC could defeat them in 2022 primary . That is if in reapportionment New York lost seat is taken from her.

If man won’t do it, it’s up to God to impose term limits.

15 terms in Congress? He should have gotten Parkinson’s 18 years ago.

Most Congress people should retire by 80 years old.

Yes, this diagnosis is never good. If something else doesn’t get you first the end game is quite ugly.

So I’ve been supporting this Congressman for thirty years in his effort to destroy the Country and Constitution that I am still under sacred oath to defend against all enemies foreign and D O M E S T I C.

Well, at least during the same thirty years he was supporting me if he was paying taxes. Maybe the disease will assist him in attaining a more moderate position regarding the Constitution.

My Dad got it and died with it. It is a horrible way to go. I hope he finds comfort.

lol

#### him. He hated the 2nd amendment as much as anybody.

Why are we supposed to give false statement of concern here?

I couldn’t care less what happens to him.

I’m not happy, not sad. Don’t care.

Attention RNC: opportunity knocks.
If the Republican Party doesn’t get off its butt and start fielding VIABLE candidates for seats like this one, I will never give them another dime.
The RNC sat back & ALLOWED AOC to win with very few votes in a HUGE district.

The Demo incumbent in the primary was an entrenched machine man, & AOC’s Repub opponent was a wingnut who had mounted his own pretend-candidacy, & then did not campaign at all, as some kind of stupid protest to get back at the judge in his divorce.
Inexcusable that the RNC let this happen. Similar apathy got the 2 Muslum women elected.

Numerous good Republican candidates in Michigan & California got no discernible Party support.

There are going to be lots of Democrat retirements before the 2020 election. Once they understand they are going to lose control of the House, there is no reason to stick around; especially for the old ones.
