Funny how the Romanians, Hungarians, Czechs & Poles always seem to be the constant butt of jokes about their competence & intelligence, even as they have fought against tyranny—and won—repeatedly throughout history.

This is fascinating. Those here who know current Romania should comment. Romania during the Holocaust was much more violently Judeophobic than Germany. Romanian army units literally burned many Jews alive in Odessa in revenge for Soviet guerrillas blowing up the Romanian Army headquarters and killing a lot of Romanians. Just in general average Romanians acted savagely towards Jews The nationalist Iron Guard violence towards Jews made the SA look polite and orderly by their example. Now Romania is taking the lead in moving its embassy to Jerusalem and generally courting Israel.
