The Non-Evolution of Birds

April 10, 2019 | David F. Coppedge

Note: While the editor is out of town, we are bringing you readings of interest from creation books associated with CEH.

The Evolution of Birds: Possible or Impossible?

by Dr. James F. Coppedge, Jr (1920-2004)

Excerpt from Evolution: Possible or Impossible? by Dr. James F. Coppedge (1973, rev. 1990, ch. 13, “Examples of Phenomena Unexplainable by Evolution,” pp 214-217).

A Bird That Found Its Way Home 3,200 Miles in Twelve and One-Half Days

A small ocean-going bird called the Manx shearwater nests in the sand on islands off the coast of Wales. Some shearwaters were banded, put in a crate inside an airplane, and flown to the United States. These birds have not been known to frequent the U.S. east coast.

Let’s read the outcome:

Manx shearwaters which were removed from their nesting burrows in ‘Vales returned successfully from release points outside their normal range . .. . One of these birds, released at Boston, Massachusetts, returned to its nest 3,200 miles away in 12 days and 12.5 hours!5

Very interesting stuff.
I may buy one of the old books listed in the article, as it appears to be a fascinating read.

Hilarious, all the references are 45 - 58 years old.
Science has advanced some since

Save yourself some time on all these rantings
and just fill in the blank.

“There is no way chance mutations could have brought about the development of [any living thing].”

In this case, there is no mention of why birds were created with reptilian feet.

Are they good eating? Can we get a hunting season on them?

In some areas moreso, and in some areas, less so. In some areas, it’s even gone backward (global warming “science”).

The real question is, what scientific discoveries made since then debunk these references. Simply saying they are old and are therefore debunked is not enough. We still hold to some of Einstein’s theories.

I use Newtonian Physics more then I use QM or relativity!

and if one is “sort of” doing some visual estimating of speeds etc. you’re probably doing some Galilean or even Aristotelian Physics!

I watch all the nature shows and when I hear the announcer explain how something "evolved" I am left to wonder - how the hell did that happen?

The announcer will intimate that the bird needed a longer beak, so it somehow, by it's own volition, created in itself a longer beak.

Now I ask you, does the bird within itself have the capacity to grow a longer beak? I know that some animals will grow another leg, but it cannot grow something it did not have in the first place.

And while it is "evolving" a new, longer beak how is it eating and feeding its young?

I just can't buy into it.

Your inability to understand science does not undermine science.

Luckily I got my 3 billion base pairs nicely supercoiled, just in time as the earth started to tilt back again. Phew! Got any extra enzymes? Gonna need some real soon. Where's the enzyme bar? No room for error if we're gonna get some.

Might think so....but you can’t change the past and nothing has changed.

A single bird, no !

Take a million birds. All those with short beaks starve.

Those with long enough beaks get all the cute girls and make more long beaked birds.

Repeat.

Similar to how dog breeders make new breeds of dogs but much slower.

Individuals don’t evolve. Species do, per the TOE.

So, the bird has the ultimate power to create its own change within itself? No outside help? No environmental help? No help from a Superior Being?

Your misrepresentation of TToE merely highlights yor ignorance.

I suggest you recall and execute the first rule of extraction from a hole.
