The warming three million years ago was a natural occurrence that happened over thousands of years until the CO2 reached 400 ppm in the atmosphere. Today’s climb in CO2 to 410 ppm from just over 300 ppm has happened over 62 years and is continuing to accelerate!!!!!
So even if it stopped now the catastrophic effects that happened 3 million years ago will happen with today’s level of CO2. At the rate of the current increase, CO2 will be 500ppm in another 50 years! And 600 ppm by 2130! With no end in sight..
There is a lag effect so the warming is not instantaneous. The Earths vast oceans have absorbed much of the CO2 until now but it appears that that moderating effect will soon be gone and it will be petal to the metal for global warming from now on. Faster and faster as the new abnormals become the new normals and it will get more disastrous with each passing decade.
