Colorado became the 15th state on Friday to adopt a “red flag” gun law, allowing firearms to be seized from people determined to pose a danger -- just weeks after dozens of county sheriffs had vowed not to enforce the law, with some local leaders establishing what they called Second Amendment "sanctuary counties."
The law didn't receive a single Republican vote in the state legislature, and has led to renewed efforts from gun-rights activists to recall Democrats who supported the measure. In a fiery and lengthy statement on Facebook on Friday, Eagle County, Colo., Sheriff James van Beek slammed the law as a well-intentioned but "ludicrous" throwback to the 2002 film "Minority Report," and outlined a slew of objections from law enforcement.
Van Beek charged that the law treats accused gun owners like "criminals," discourages individuals from seeking mental health treatment, and ignores the reality that "a disturbed mind will not be deterred by the removal of their guns."

Most targetted people would be white males, pro-lifers, Christians, Trump supporters and those who wear MAGA hats.
We have such a law here in Florida. I would be interested in knowing how well it’s working. Haven’t heard of anyone who’s been denied their guns other than a couple of nuts who should have been in asylums. But maybe there’s more to it.

During a spirited political discussion with a niece a couple of months ago she just threw out that she could at ‘any time’ call the police and tell them she was family and I was a danger to myself & others and all my ‘toys’ would be taken away...so I had better change my ‘bad thoughts’.
And then she laughed.
Never again will I engage her in any serious discussion.
Yea, she is a lefty.

Is there any way to ‘disown’ her as a relative? So she does not have standing to red flag you?
But, I can think of one group. Couples in the middle of a divorce. Guns can be one more thing they can fight about. Like accusing the soon to be ex of abuse.
It was a niece that got the guy in Maryland killed.

There have been cases of elderly people victimized by con artists, in which the cops make no attempt to catch the criminals, but instead refer the elderly to Adult Protective Services.
A social worker comes around asking lots of questions about finances, any guns in the home, etc.
Do not allow her in your home.
You may have to Red Flag her as suicidal as a preempted first strike.
She is a threat to your well being.
This bill takes away about 4 Constitutional rights. The right of due process is gone. There is already laws and programs in place for people that problems. 55 Sheriffs sued the state over the last magazine law. One recall is started against a representative in Greeley but We have to wait 6 months to go after the governor.
