I used to be against homeschooling. I was wrong.

What's next? Can't use the apps at the mall, at the grocery store, while filling your tank at the gas station? Does this also mean you can't use them at a football game or field trip? Can't check on your kid when he's supposed to be waiting around on campus for an after school activity to begin instead of going off somewhere else? School Nazis.

But then it's weird to constantly check on your kids.

It can be, yes. Unless you kid is turning your world upside down by constantly getting in trouble with the school (or worse) with the law. Then I can understand kids being on a shorter leash.

Every classroom should have a video camera whereby parents may monitor the instruction. Public schools.

The school doesn’t want you to hear how your children are taught government garbage or how utterly stupid the teachers are, or how emotionally abusive the teachers are.

maybe it's not the kids you're concerned about but the gender role transformation class they're required to take. OR the anti-American History class.

In all seriousness, this does bring up privacy issues. Since the parent can’t control where the phone goes, they could find themselves listening in on “non-public” conversations of others. Basically, their kid becomes like “the snitch wearing a wire” wherever they go. The other bad thing is that it conditions the young to psychologically accept constant surveillance when they become adults.

I’m not decided on this issue yet.

But yeah. If I had school aged kids today, they would be home schooled. Public school is a 19th century paradigm that outlived its usefulness in the early 21st.

Maybe these folks should get a clue and sue Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Google, and all the other companies which listen in on everything around devices which have those websites in use.

It's a legal issue, the district told KXAN. Parents who are discreetly listening in to their kids might also be listening in on other children

They also might be listening in on the crap the school is indoctrination their kids with. That is what the district doesn't like.

They’re lying. They’re not afraid of eavesdropping on other kids. They’re afraid parents might find out what the teachers themselves are saying to the kids.

“Parents who are discreetly listening in to their kids might also be listening in on other children, and in addition to raising privacy concerns,”

Nonsense. They simply don’t want parents to be able to hear what is being used to indoctrinate their little darlings.

"It's a legal issue, the district told KXAN. Parents who are discreetly listening in to their kids might also be listening in on other children, and in addition to raising privacy concerns, the practice could violate federal wiretapping laws, said Amber King, LTISD's legal counsel."

BS. The district doesn't want parents knowing what they're teaching the kids.

There is a control freak neurosis in Texas that often manifests itself in nutty needless new laws or rules like this.

Just the classroom.

They need to to be hidden, to get away with what they are doing there.

What a load..!

The teachers union is pissed about the possibility of parents listening on HOW THEY TEACH.

Or how they go about doing all manner of stuff but NOT teaching.

They simply don’t want to be held accountable.

They won’t settle for simply not being accountable, they want for it to not even be POSSIBLE.

There. Fixed it.

But then it's weird to constantly check on your kids.

It lets you listen in on what they are being carefully taught.

The kids may not recognize the sugar coated hate and lies that are being fed to them as fact but the parents have the right to know.

Of course I would just home school. It is like home cooking. You know exactly what went in the pot and you can adjust it to your child's likes and interests.
