‘There was no attempted coup’: FBI’s former top lawyer defends Russia probe

Former top FBI lawyer James Baker offered a robust defense Friday of the bureau’s investigation into President Trump and his 2016 campaign, taking aim at Trump’s allegation that the inquiry was tantamount to a coup and describing how he sought to ensure agents’ work was on solid legal footing.

“There was no attempted coup,” Baker said bluntly. “There was no way in hell that I was going to allow some coup or coup attempt to take place on my watch.”

The comments, which came at a taping of the Lawfare podcast in front of a live audience at the Brookings Institution, were Baker’s first public remarks on the investigation that would eventually be taken over by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. Baker had addressed questions about the probe previously only in private sessions with congressional committees, though transcripts of those comments were later released.

Baker, along with Comey, Strzok, McCabe, Ohr and others were part of the attempted coup.

But Baker just repeats the same lies.

"Baker said the investigation of possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia began with a tip that was impossible to ignore. In summer 2016, he said, Australian officials relayed that George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, had boasted of having “dirt” on Hillary Clinton, Trump’s opponent, in the form of “thousands of emails.”"

The truth just now coming to light is that the FBI under orders from 0bama was spying on the Trump campaign using NSA and other “national assets”. When the NSA got wind that someone was using their systems, they started looking into who it was. The FBI then concocted the Steele dossier as a means to cover their ass.

This was an attempted coup. Nothing else.

Former top FBI lawyer James Baker under criminal investigation for media leaks

Former FBI general counsel James Baker is under criminal investigation for unauthorized leaks to the media.

The development was made public in a letter sent Tuesday to the office of U.S. Attorney John Durham for the District of Connecticut by Republican Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Mark Meadows of North Carolina.

In the letter, the two lawmakers cite the transcript of a congressional interview with Baker and his lawyer in October. “You may or may not know, [Baker has] been the subject of a leak investigation … a criminal leak investigation that’s still active at the Justice Department,” lawyer Daniel Levin told lawmakers, according to the transcript cited by Jordan and Meadows.

“As we continue our oversight and investigative work, we felt it prudent to write to you seeking an update. Without being apprised of the contours of your leak investigation and Baker’s role, we run the risk of inadvertently interfering with your prosecutorial plans,” Jordan and Meadows wrote.

I thought that Australian official, and clinton fund raiser, just stated on SkyNews that emails were never discussed? Someone is fibbing here.

Baker Your words do not pass the smell test. Swap a couple of names to see your heinous mendacity.
"Baker said the investigation of possible ties between the Obama campaign and Russia began with a tip that was impossible to ignore. In summer 2008, he said, Australian officials relayed that Mark Brzezinski, a foreign policy adviser to the Obama campaign, had boasted of having “dirt” on Hillary Clinton, Obama’s opponent, in the form of “thousands of emails.”"

They are all in LIE mode now.

Even Alexander Downer was on Australian news programs lying his butt off.

They were all connected by a global network of Five Eyes espionage helping each other evade privacy laws in host countries. They thought themselves the vanguard of the ruling circles and all thought Trump a barbarian. They hated him. I am a first witness to such behavior.

Actually he wasn’t. His real crime was trying to cover up what he wasn’t aware of taking place. Damage control, but he sealed his fate by engaging in that damage control. I am not a big fan of Nixon either, so don’t even go there.
