Justin Amash, tea party star, earns primary challenge for backing impeachment

Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan says he enlists social media to do something unusual: explain why he bucks his party in terms his constituents can understand.

The 39-year-old Republican, who was the youngest member of the freshman class in 2011, states his approach succinctly: “I defend liberty and explain every vote here.” The simple formula has turned the libertarian, who rode into the House on the tea party wave, into something of a sensation. In 2012, the Independent Voter Network called Amash the “coolest member of Congress.”

Amash’s latest decision — to state publicly that President Trump engaged in activity worthy of impeachment — could be the hardest yet for him to explain to Republican voters, 9 in 10 of whom oppose impeachment, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted in April. […]

The allure of the swamp is great. But sad that it took Amash a mere eight years to transform from Tea Party Wunderkid to swamp creature.

I hope he enjoys his few months of fame as much as Flakey Flake.

It didn’t take that long. His primary opponent said on Levin last night that he only had 1 bill signed into law. A post office renaming. Amash is self promoting gadfly. That is all.

Imagine if this douchebag was HONEST and explained the REAL reasons for his voting record instead of claiming he's doing for "constitutional" reasons to "defend liberty":

"My dad is a Palestinian arab and my mom is from Syria, so my family has always loathed Jews living in the Middle East. I voted against condemning HAMAS for terrorism because quite frankly, I don't have a problem with them doing everything necessary to push out the zionists. In fact, I hope they succeed!"

"I voted against some common sense limitations on abortion because the reality is I'm not 'personally' against abortion. I just say that because I'm running in a Republican district so I need to pretend abortion offends me to make in thru a GOP primary as a conservative. In reality, I'm pretty cool with women aborting babies whenever they want for whatever reason. I knew a chick in college who got like 8 abortions, I just shrugged when I heard about it."

"President Trump going after China is personally hurting my business in the private sector because the company I own has a great deal of investments in Red China and we have to suck up to the commies and ignore their human rights abuses if we wanna continue making a healthy profit. Now Trump's actions is endangering my personal career and that's unacceptable. I will happily steamroll the President to keep my company profitable if I have to!
