Meghan McCain on Thursday accused President Trump of creating an atmosphere in the military in which service members are afraid to display the name of her late father, Republican Sen. John McCain.
“The president’s actions have consequences,” McCain, one of the hosts of ABC’s “The View,” said at the start of the program. ”And when you repeatedly are attacking my father and war heroes, it creates a culture in the military where people are clearly fearful to show my father’s name in one way or another. That is what I think has started this chain of events.”
McCain said Trump, who often clashed with her father, is putting people in the military in “horrific situations.”
“If you’re a sailor on this ship, you think there’s going to be retribution. I think it’s horrible,” said McCain, adding, “It’s bad for Americans.”

Meghan McCain also addressed critics who complain that she’s always talking about her father, who died last August from brain cancer.
”It’s impossible to go through the grief process when my father, who’s been dead 10 months, is constantly in the news cycle because the president is so obsessed with the fact that he’s never going to be a great man like he was,” she said.

How was this a scandal? If POTUS does not want to see a ship because of the name, that is his right. That is why they call it the EXECUTIVE BRANCH.
If I were Trump and this were true, I would simply say “Hell yeah, I didn’t like that INSANE MCCAINE and I like his daughter less!”

Thanks conservative98. The whiny cow... If the USS McCain had been in the background, the partisan media shills (a category that includes her) would have pissed and moaned about that. My view is, the craft should be rechristened, but in the meanwhile, she doesn't belong on the air. Neither does the rest of the cast of "The View". There's a reason it isn't called "The Views".
There is here NO scandal. That is a very Japanese thing to do. There is no political content there at all. It is purely politeness. it is also a recognition that the American President has a higher status than the Japanese PM.
I 100% regret and repudiate any & all support an campaigning I ever did for John McCain in 2008 .
