RANDOLPH, N.H. (AP) — Seven people were killed in a crash between a truck and several motorcycles in New Hampshire, state police said Friday, in what witnesses described as a "devastating scene" as bystanders grabbed first aid kits and blankets to treat injured motorcycle riders scattered along the highway.

According to the article, the riders "were mostly Marine veterans wo belonged to the same motorcycle club." From the picture it looks like most of the bikes were expensive Harleys, the kind of bikes mostly ridden by people making about $90,000 per year, who're usually north of age 45, and ride quite responsibly when in large groups. Strikes me that killing eight of them at once would take a lot of recklessness. Here in E TN, on The Dragon, bikers only kill themselves one or two at a time. There's never, in my 31 years here, been a horror like this. Foul play by the truck driver???

I see a double yellow line in the photo. My guess is the truck was making an illegal pass.

I don’t trust anybody driving behind me these days and gave up riding and driving sports cars. I’m not going out there with my back exposed and now only drive big heavy SUVs.

Too many lunatics and oblivious people I encountered in the last 5 years driving about. Even in rural areas at 5am. We have people constantly driving into trees and houses.

Maybe it’s the addiction to smartphones and opiods

And guard rails.

I spend a lot of time driving on Interstate Highways. There is a mystery.

Why are there so many instances of the ends of guard rails being hit, damaged, destroyed? There seems to be a vary large disproportion of guard rail ends being rolled up as opposed to hits somewhere along the length.

I think decades of liberals promoting bad behavior has something to do with it.

Most ends are designed to be “crumple-zones”.

We are just past “Motorcycle Week” here in NH. Every summer we get hundreds of the these mid-life riders up here mounted on very expensive bikes. Some know what they are doing. Others, not so much.

A neighbor trucked his Harley to the Florida Keys. He noted the many drugged an drunken drivers, and trucked it back to NH.

He’s not going to be happy after I send him THIS news!

Around here in Los Angeles, they give away drivers licenses to anybody. I asked a DMV worker how people can get a license that cannot read or speak English. She looked at me like I was a white supremacist.

Beyond that it’s motorists taking selfies, gabbing away on their phones or just being retarded. Assume no one sees you on a bike.

Drivers on Ice explains a lot of crazy driving. It’s a major issue in my city in Australia.

He should just come here to E TN and ride the “Cherohala/Dragon 120 Mile Loop.” I put it in quotes so you can google it. You’ll get a good map and a great description.

I spent 8 years in New Hampshire (wife was from Concord). We had a home 10 miles NW of Concord on a normally quiet road. These out of towners always came up from the big cities to have their wilderness experience.

Saturday & Sunday afternoons were often annoying as these ‘yuppie bikers’ & their Harleys disrupted the calm. They seemed to be everywhere. We could hear them from far off as they approached. We always wondered why motorcycles were allowed loud pipes but not on vehicles?
At least for half the year the damn things are put away.
