N.R.A. Shuts Down Production of NRATV
New York Times ^ | June 25th 2019 | Danny Hakim

Posted on 06/25/2019 7:35:00 PM PDT by Ennis85

The National Rifle Association has shut down production at NRATV.

The N.R.A. on Tuesday also severed all business with its estranged advertising firm, Ackerman McQueen, which operates NRATV, the N.R.A.’s live broadcasting media arm, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

While NRATV may continue to air past content, its live broadcasting will end and its on-air personalities — Ackerman employees who included Dana Loesch — will no longer be the public faces of the N.R.A. It remained unclear whether the N.R.A. might try to hire some of those employees, but there was no indication it was negotiating to do so.

The move comes amid a flurry of lawsuits between the N.R.A. and Ackerman, and increasing acrimony that surfaced after two prominent N.R.A. board members first criticized NRATV in an article in The Times in March. The separation had become inevitable: The two sides said last month that they were ending their three-decade-plus partnership.

“Many members expressed concern about the messaging on NRATV becoming too far removed from our core mission: defending the Second Amendment,” Wayne LaPierre, the N.R.A.’s longtime chief executive, wrote in a message to members that was expected to be sent out by Wednesday. “So, after careful consideration, I am announcing that starting today, we are undergoing a significant change in our communications strategy. We are no longer airing ‘live TV’ programming.”

In a notice to Ackerman’s chief executive, Revan McQueen, sent Tuesday night, the N.R.A. said it “regrets that a longstanding, formerly productive relationship comes to an end in this fashion.”

Ackerman, in its own statement, said it was “not surprised that the N.R.A. is unwilling to honor its agreement to end our contract and our long-standing relationship in an orderly and amicable manner.”

Sorry to say, but it looks like the NRA is cracking up.
Support GOA and Second Amendment Foundation.

Unreliable source, sorry. Whatever actually is happening it is very unlikely to be as the lying NYT is describing.

The power struggle continues behind the scenes.
Ollie North saw it coming.

I think North started the power struggle.

GOA is great. It not only opposes direct anti-gun legislation, but also seemingly unrelated legislation, such as in health care, that could expose gun owners to legal liability, surveillance and restrictions on gun ownership.

Quite unsettling, if true.

The NRA has been perhaps the most formidable political action force behind the GOP.

Together with the Evangelical Christian community, the NRA was critical in mobilizing voters in 2016.

Wayne LaPierre seemed to have run a tight ship and I expected Chris Cox to be a worthy successor.
Why was Oliver North put in charge, especially with his less-than-auspicious reputation???

The evidence is clear that Wayne has NOT "run a tight ship"!

He needs to go....NOW!

Oliver North was NOT in it for the power or the money.

North saw improprieties and tried to get Wayne to resolve it.

Wayne can't imagine being accountable.

IMHO, the NRA, just like the Catholic church, is being "intentionally" unraveled from within...

Shades of Felix Dzerzhinsky everywhere we look... The brilliant strategies he developed and used to save the communist revolution from extinction are being demonstrated daily in the U.S.

Wayne can’t imagine being accountable.

Thanks for the insightful post.

Seems I had LaPierre figured all wrong.

Hope the NRA gets it act together in time for next year’s elections.

Wonder how Dana Loesch would do as head of the NRA?
She’s been a great spokesperson and having a woman at the helm would be amazing!

“Support GOA and Second Amendment Foundation.”

Don’t forget your local organizations, either. Here in Virginia, the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) is quite good, and has organized protests against Gov. Ralph “Coonman” Northam’s anti-gun special legislative session, as well as attendance at local city councils that are trying to sneak things past the public.

GOA is great but...it doesn’t have national magazine that goes out to many millions of members like the NRA.

The NRA can easily determine the outcome of close races in all 50 states, all the others are hardly a blip on the radar screen.

Tom Gresham has been calling for the NRA to cut Ackerman McQueen loose. That is good enough for me.

It’s all over the interwebs.

Leftists are having a field day with this news...and, about Eric Trump getting spat upon.

These haters are a pretty sick group who *espouse tolerance*, eh?
