Terry Gou, of Taiwans Foxconn, which makes Apple gear in Chinese factories, recently said he would urge Apple to produce outside of China.
Other lesser-known companies such as Giant Manufacturing, the worlds largest bicycle maker, have already shifted production for U.S. customers. Giant has moved the manufacture of many U.S.-bound models to its home base in Taiwan, and is opening a new factory in Hungary. The world is no longer flat, Giants chairwoman, Bonnie Tu, told Bloomberg.
These are far from isolated cases: A survey released in May by two branches of the American Chamber of Commerce in China revealed that about 40 percent of respondents said they have relocated or are considering moving manufacturing operations out of China.
This process has been underway for some time, due to rising costs in China and other factory. American toymaker Hasbro says it has been steadily reducing the share of products sold in the U.S. that are made in China, from 80 percent in 2012 to 67 percent at the end of 2018, and plans to shrink that further in coming years. But the trade war has compelled chief executives to step on the gas. What companies are doing is accelerating their plans to move out of China, Stephen Lamar, executive vice president of the American Apparel & Footwear Association, told me. He calls it a generational shift in how U.S. companies are sourcing their products.
For some countries, that comes as good news. Businesses looking to shift assembly lines from China tend to target other emerging economies as a new base. Modern economic history tells us that the jobs created by such factories in poor countries can jumpstart economic growth and alleviate poverty (as happened in China itself). Already places such as Vietnam have benefited by siphoning factories away from China.

The pressure on COMMUNISM is great. The beauty of capitalism and freedom.
I still am astonished that only a few ever analyse China as a hostile nation. I guess so much is invested that everyone, from Democrats to Republicans, have too much to lose. But they are quick to condemn Russia, a nation 1/10th size of China, that really is not screwing the US over economically.
I say this as a Canadian, who liberal party is the and always has been the hand maiden of the ChiComs. But it seems little better in the US>
Russia would screw us over economically if it could, but the cold hard fact of the matter is that Russia has a minuscule economy. Many much smaller countries have economies that are larger that Russia's. Sometimes I think that producing new weapons of war is about the only thing that keeps Russia from a financial collapse. Russia is belicose $hit hole of a country.
Libertarians have infected this web site as well the GOPe in general. they have no allegiance to any nation or creed except GREED. The will trade with the devil so shave 2 cents on the dollar.
Somewhere out on the web is a chart matching various countries economy sizes to the economy of our various states. If memory serves me correctly, I think Russia has an economy about the size of Michigan.

The point of MAGA was to bring manufacturing jobs home to America.
Why am I supposed to applaud the shifting of jobs from China to Hungary?
Do tell. I’ve seen all types of Freepers to fag homo supporter and lovers (even the regular long-time Freepers) to NEVER TRUMPERS (they mostly come out with daggers at every border wall thread)
So US-based companies are shifting manufacturing jobs from China to other non-US countries. How does that make US manufacturing great again?
Democrats and Republicans have been determined to make China great again.
When are these manufacturing jobs going to be shifted back to the US? Shifting them from China to Vietnam or Hungary doesnt excite me very much. It doesnt open new factories in those rust belt states that voted for Trump
Less intellectual property theft.
And presumably some of the manufacturing will be re-onshored.
This Atlantic article only tells some of the story. As most leftist media does these days it tells only what it wants to and uses the rest of the story to attack President Trump. In reality like many things Trump has seen the changes in the world manufacturing supply chains and used it to an advantage. China had become to costly and manufacturers were looking to move on to less costly locations to set up shop in. China feels the pain as its people end up out of work. As the Hong Kong protests show all is not well in China.

The Cold War was an aberration, a time when countries lined up into two broad coalitions. In normal times, you can have more than one enemy. This is one of those times.
One issue at a time and baby steps. Taking money away from China was the first step. They are the enemy. Let’s keep doing that first and bringing back jobs to America will come next..
Using the most generous calculation using purchase power parity (PPP), which is also the more realistic, then Russia has an economy the size of California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona combined. If you compare just nominal GDP in $ terms, then it is smaller than, but most comparable to, New York.
bringing back jobs to America will come next..
Trump talked about bringing factories back to Ohio and Pennsylvania. Freepers are cheering when the factories are going to Thailand instead. That aint going to get him a lot of votes from the Rust Belt
