>>We hate the actions of the anti-gay Westboro Baptists at funerals

To anyone who has been paying attention, the WBC is pretty obviously more of a lawyer’s 1A lawsuit racket that it is a church. A Dem lawyer at that.

At many marches there are different people marching and so as long as the Christians are not confronting or harassing people they also have a right to March or give speeches and it is then up to the police to just separate groups if one group invades the area of another group.
If you are out in public marching or speaking then it is not a private church service it is in the public venue and there for others can also be there

So where exactly do YOU preach the gospel? What better times do you preach it? This person went to where the sinners are. It's not easy doing what they do; I've done street preaching before. Sometimes you just have to do it.

Unfortunately you brought Westboro into this as a comparison and there really is none.

I go by DL Moody's dictum, "My preaching the gospel beats your not preaching the gospel any day."

Instead of discouraging this person in pursuing his calling, perhaps you could be thankful that there are people who care enough to preach it so openly.

Here’s another street preacher in Toronto. Phillip Blair with Torch of Christ Ministries. Toronto doesn’t seem to like any kind of Gospel preaching from anyone at any time.

The police and government are your enemy folks. Plan accordingly.

The truth is than many gays hate traditional Christians with a passion whose only desire is persecution.

My plan, inasmuch as this is happening, is the Old Old Story of the bible.

And even “police” and “government” need not be solely bringers of bad news in that scenario. In fact they can still defend in some aspects.

My independence consist in dependence on God, who will break men’s rules when they presume to supervene His — but will otherwise let men’s rules stand. I have no particular need, for example, to protest by refusing to use seat belts where available, because they make independent sense before God (and the same goes with cellphone usage laws on highways, etc.) I remember the cautionary tale of Rich Mullins of “Awesome God” fame who also perished in a vehicle accident, NOT wearing safety belts. The God of salvation provides earthly extensions of His provision — USE them by all means.

What I’ve heard less of is what has happened when Westboro Baptists (baptized in what, skunk spray?) are faced off by actual street preachers.

Homosexuality isn’t the only issue that God cares about, believe it or not. Nor is His power to contain it and other sins dependent on American government such that it would be chiefly blamed as much as it would be dependent on church attitudes. A “We The People” government does suggest a broader blame, but then how are the Westboro folks excluded? Have they produced a single solitary ex-gay in all their years? If so I haven’t ever heard about them saying so. In older days, it was a virtually united Christian moral belief that militated against this problem, not so much the fear of laws that couldn’t possibly police the vast majority of incidents anyhow. In fact, sex sins are so hard to police that even the strict Old Testament ritual civil law required “two or three witnesses” to carry out the associated death penalty. And these witnesses had to be credible, or the stoning would come their own way. And they had to carry out the stoning themselves. It was a far cry from the regime we knew while sodomy was last illegal. The broad implication here seems to be that the closet will get a pass, and only notorious activity (one which is willing to have witnesses) will suffer (but then, oh will it suffer).

I’d certainly, if a street preacher, face off with Westboro Baptists and ask them what they have ever done to deliver a single person from homosexuality (which the bible states is eminently in the picture). And if they cannot do this, then they should shut up, they are not making things any better.

I wish — no, make that pray — all such ministers every success and protection in the Lord.

They don’t really need to be critics of government policy. They don’t need to say that homosexuals ought to be shut out of this, that, or the other. This is quite beside the gospel point, and only a distraction. The point should be: what are YOU doing about the Lord Jesus Christ and how are you showing it in the way you live?

Homosexuality is really a kind of idolatry of bullying. In barbarian societies, the act is a way of saying “We have utter power over you.” In non-barbarian societies, this still carries on, only without such official import. Now isn’t that STUPID when compared to a life under and in the power of Jesus Christ? Yes, it is. Now it’s up to the street preachers — and it may take a bunch of them to really illustrate the point — to carry the message out there. Yes, it seems possible to me that a group of street preachers that can outclass the gangs of “Macho Man” fame might be an effective outreach, maybe even a very suitable one. Christians can be tough too... God tough.
