Former California State Assembly speaker and San Francisco mayor Willie Brown has declared, in the wake of the first Democratic Party presidential primary debate, that there is still no candidate who can beat President Donald Trump.
Brown made his observations in his most recent column for the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday, titled, “Bad news for Democrats — none of these candidates can beat Trump.”
Brown wrote:
The first Democratic debates proved one thing: We still don’t have a candidate who can beat Donald Trump.
California Sen. Kamala Harris got all the attention for playing prosecutor in chief, but her case against former Vice President Joe Biden boiled down in some ways to a ringing call for forced school busing. It won’t be too hard for Trump to knock that one out of the park in 2020.

Trump must have enjoyed every moment and every answer, because he now knows he’s looking at a bunch of potential rivals who are still not ready for prime time.

It was the second time Brown has panned the Democratic primary field. He wrote in February, after President Trump’s widely-praised State of the Union address: “Make no mistake, President Trump’s State of the Union address was the kickoff for his 2020 re-election campaign, and so far I’ve yet to see a Democrat who can beat him. … They all have impressive credentials, winning personalities and positive messages, but none displays the “people personality” that our media-savvy president has mastered.”

I have always found that Willie Brown has been very shrewd about his political assessments.

Willie has always been a savy politician, and he’s spot on here. It is laughable that the polls are showing just the reverse of the truth. That tells you something, the RAT media is scared $hitless of President Trump. The thing that we need to start focussing on is who to run in 2024, because I am not at all convinced that Pence should get the nod. And in addition, how to rid the Congress of the RINOs so we can really get things done.

Yes I think he’s an astute politician.
Given his connections to Kamala Harris, it strikes me that he is publicly putting her in the same group of Democrats who can’t beat Trump.
Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker. And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco. I have also helped the careers of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and a host of other politicians.
He sure dated a lot of prominent politicians. ;-)

But I also think it’s possible that Obama is working behind the scenes, setting up a situation at the convention where The Moose will receive a kind of Altar Call.
Not only does Obama get his he-wife in the oval office, but he gets to snub his nose at the Clintons: See, THAT’S how you manipulate the DNC, you losers.

I don't understand why so many people think this is going to happen. Never ever ever in a million years is she going to be some dark horse candidate at the convention. It will be one of the losers from the current pack, but if they were going to go with some unexpected pick at the convention, it would be somebody with some semi-legitimate credentials, like Andy Cuomo or Tom Wolf. Not some rich housewife who had a single admin job in her life twenty years ago.
No, they are not going to nominate Michelle Obama at the convention.

Well, now, the Democrats are just going to have to pursue as much vote fraud as they think they can get away with.
Let’s see, first get all the illegal non-citizen residents they can to register, and make sure they get to the polls. If they can’t be registered under their own name, then get as many graveyard registration as are available, and provide some kind of acceptable identification to present to the ballot clerk, and make sure the deceased has fulfilled the obligation to vote in this election. Also, set up for as much ballot harvesting in precincts where this is permitted, and check to be sure the “absentees” have voted right, discarding those who have voted “wrong”.
When it comes time to count ballots, try to block or invalidate those absentee ballots from the military, particularly from overseas, and those parts of the voting district that are by historical measure, known to vote “wrong”, or simply “lose” the received mail-in ballots altogether. Once in the back room, create “replacement” ballots for those that were “lost”. Just in case you might need them, of course.
Hold back on reporting the totals to the Secretary of State of each of the states involved, until it is known approximately how many have to be “manufactured” to tip the totals for the entire state. It is OK if 120% of the registered voters in some precincts have all voted just one way, that has been held acceptable and is entirely fair under the customary and unwritten rules of ballot counting.
Last, and most important - LIE. Even of your guy came up short on the count, recount and recount until the totals finally support the “correct” candidate or ballot measure.
When all else fails, go to court and sue to invalidate the election results.
But did he have the same penetrating inside influence with these other politicians, that he did with Kamala Harris? That’s the question.
Agreed, although it is possible that their nominee will be a woman.
Harris is ineligible as she most know (since her website glosses over, obfuscates her parents’ alien status at the time of her birth).
She was also largely raised, educated outside USA, too, though that isn’t legally disqualifying some voters would not be comfortable with it I think)
