Amash Won’t Rule Out a Run For President
Breitbart ^ | 07 July 2019 | Pam Key

Posted on 07/07/2019 9:28:04 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI), who left the Republican Party earlier this week, would not rule out a run for president.

Partial transcript as follows:

TAPPER: What about the possibility of your running for president as a libertarian or some other ticket. I asked you about that four or five months ago and you didn’t rule it out. Is it possible you would run for president?

AMASH: I still wouldn’t rule anything like that out. I believe that I have to use my skills, my public influence where it serves the country best and I believe I have to defend the Constitution in whichever way works best and if that means doing something else, then I do that. But I feel confident about running in my district, I feel a close tie to my community, I feel — I care a lot about my community and I want to represent them in Congress.

TAPPER: When do you think you’ll make a decision about a possible presidential run?

AMASH: It is something people talk about all of the time. It is not something that is right on my radar right now. So I couldn’t tell you.

Has a good real Conservative opponent surfaced yet? And I do not mean some feckless turd put up by the RNC or the Michigan State GOP. The voters need to start “culling the herd” in the Congress NOW!

Granted there are A LOT of people sick of both parties, but why does this man think he can draw voters?

He had demonstrated no leadership quality, ready to betray at the drop of the hat if he thinks it will benefit HIMSELF.

Hopefully, his attractions are for those die-hard NeverTrump leftovers who WILL otherwise vote for the Dem candidate.

Good let him run. He’ll only get votes from Trump haters anyway who would otherwise be voting Democrat if at all.

Donald Trump has nothing to fear from a breakaway Republican running to his left. That will find no traction among the base.

If, however, Jordan Amash runs to his right, that is on a theme of balancing the budget and cutting spending etc., that has some potential to cut into the traditional Republican base which ever since George HW Bush asked us to read his lips, quite rightly feels betrayed. It was not just the increase in taxes, it was the failure to cut spending.

Spending and an unbalanced budget together are Trump's only vulnerability from the right and that is certainly containable.

Well at least Bill Kristol has a presidential candidate to back financially and support in case he doesn’t want to send out Egg McMuffin for a second try in 2020.

He has no constituency.
Republicans wouldn’t even vote for him for Congress and Democrats will never vote for him for anything.

Well, that's nice. On a related note, my cat Mr. Whiskers hasn't ruled out a run for president either. I've told him to aim a little lower, and run for Amash's seat. But Mr. Whiskers is stubborn and won't listen.

Amash is more than awash.

He has sunk below the waves.
