New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Monday signed legislation that would allow Congress to obtain President Trump's New York state tax returns.
"This bill gives Congress the ability to fulfill its Constitutional responsibilities, strengthen our democratic system and ensure that no one is above the law," Cuomo said in a statement.
The bill signing comes after the House Ways and Means Committee, led by Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.) filed a lawsuit last week in order to obtain Trump's federal tax returns from 2013 to 2018.
Neal has indicated that he may not seek Trump's New York state returns, however.
He has said he wants to examine Trump's federal tax returns because the House panel is interested in oversight and legislation related to how the IRS audits presidents.

Wouldn’t you start with Obama then? You’ve got a better data set. 8 years in office, and the previous 7 years pertinent to what the IRS may have audited.

Uh, pretty sure the IRS “Trumps” cuomos wishes and they already said no. He may be able to get the state tax returns. And that will show them how much Trump made and how much he paid. What the hell happened to the northeast? Roots? What’s that? My kin showed up in the Hudson Valley in the early 1600’s and fought in the revolution and in the civil and everything in between and are probably spinning in their graves at what’s become of their efforts. Disgusting!

Unconstitutional.
Yeah but the forms were probably emailed to Nadler five seconds after he signed. It takes at least a couple of hours to get to court and file a motion.

Beat me to it. It is unconstitutional to pass laws directed at a specific person, even if the language of the law is slyly couched so as to seem broader in scope. We all know what - that is, WHO - this law is about, and who it is targeting.

And Deplorables will stop at nothing to defend Trump. Be careful, Dims.

They're fascists and they are showing their true colors, their desire to use the power of the state to crush opposition inany way possible. Spying, leaking, lying, violating every law regarding privacy, etc. They want a secret police force with the power to jail opposition without a trial or even charges, make no mistake. When they can get away with it, they'll do it.
So do you really think they care about the constitution? I include our revered and independent judiciary in this.

But aren't they demanding Trump's tax records from BEFORE he was president, i.e., back to six or eight years ago?
