She’s chic, fiery, and really darn good at soccer. Is it any wonder that everybody loves Megan Rapinoe?
The soccer star and U.S. women’s national team captain has become a celebrity after guiding her team to yet another Women’s World Cup win on Sunday. Amid endless fanfare, she has received a glowing feature in the Washington Post, modeled for Sports Illustrated, and become a viral sensation. One article in the Week even endorsed her for president.
There’s just one problem: She’s actually kind of an awful person. Rapinoe has soccer skills for sure, but her entitled, flippant, and unpatriotic attitude is the epitome of first-world privilege.
It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Rapinoe is a bad role model for the millions of young women across the country. They look up to her and see not a disciplined, respectful sports icon, but a groundlessly bitter, petulant celebrity who is totally ungrateful for the opportunities she's had. As Marc Thiessen put it for the New York Post, "Megan Rapinoe is a great — but needlessly, selfishly divisive — athlete.”
This truth has, unfortunately, been largely lost in the post-victory fanfare. Everyone should be happy the U.S. women’s team once again proved its excellence on the international stage, but we must not forget that Rapinoe is not someone worth celebrating.

So common among young people today. Remember that list of stressful items in their lives that matched them with D Day and fighting Germany in WWII? Uncertainty of college aid money coming in, stress of checking Facebook and Twitter on cell phone all day for attacks and disappointments from associates, fear of extinction due to climate change....Can't remember more but those probably brought you to tears welling up.

Why? That team doesn’t represent people who aren’t Democrats. The USA would be better-off if that bunch of America haters lost. We should be celebrating brave cops, great doctors, and other people who have worked to make this nation great.

She’s clearly bitter with tons of repressed rage. I’m guessing the household where she grew up was abusive and she took her refuge in an immersion in sports. Now that her career as an athlete is coming to an end, I see a Rosie-esque downward spiral in the years ahead. Booze and isolation as she turns on those around her.
After seeing the pictures I can see why there aren’t any nudes. No one would want to look at them.
Compare her to another sports star who died recently.
He was MVP of the first two Super Bowls. He still has the highest post season QB rating of all time. He was married for life to his high school sweetheart.
From all accounts he was always humble, and kind, in addition to being really tough. He taught Sunday School.
Bart Starr will always be a hero to me.
The word that describes her best is repulsive.
Please watch the video clip that’s included with the article. The vile, evil, unpatriotic little witch and he co-conspirator first rub the flag on the ground, then deliberately drop it and step on it. Her jersey should be stripped from her and she should be expelled from the league. After all, she got her prestige from being on the U.S. soccer team and was there to honor the U.S., like it or not.
