A Green Beret who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan died Saturday during combat operations in Afghanistan, according to US Army special operations spokesman Lt. Col. Loren Bymer.

Sgt. Maj. James G. "Ryan" Sartor, 40, was from Teague, Texas, and was assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group. He died during combat in northern Afghanistan's Faryab province, which borders Turkmenistan.

"We're incredibly saddened to learn of Sgt. Maj. James 'Ryan' Sartor's passing in Afghanistan. Ryan was a beloved warrior who epitomized the quiet professional," said Col. Brian R. Rauen, the commander of 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). "He led his soldiers from the front and his presence will be terribly missed."

Sartor joined the Army in June 2001 and deployed to Iraq as an infantryman in 2002. He completed the Special Forces Qualification Course to become a Green Beret in 2005 and deployed to Iraq with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010, the US Army said. He also deployed to Afghanistan with the same group in 2017 and 2019.

Sartor’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal and more. His posthumous awards include the Purple Heart Medal and Bronze Star Medal, the Army said.

I agree but on the way out use tactical nuclear weapons and exterminate those cockroaches. Then go back in and take all of the natural resources. I’m tired of our goody two shoes policies.

Sadly the supreme sacrifice made by one of America’s best did not enhance the security of the American people and will be viewed with indifference and disdain by a large percentage of the population. Blame his death on the vile values and policies of the neo con globalists. Too bad Trump has been dissuaded from following his instincts and the country continues to make material and precious human sacrifices in these alien foreign entanglements.

I’m going to comfort myself after the loss of such an extraordinary man in believing that someone like President Trump will be greatly affected by such a loss and it will impact future decisions for the better.

Was he paid as much as our Women’s Soccer Players are?

After all, that seems like one of the most important topics of the day in this Country.

If there ever was a chance for a “victory” in Afghanistan, that time has long since passed. So it’s either stay and continue to lose blood and treasure, or simply evacuate. Eventually some president will have to choose the latter.

Many years ago (Bush II was still president) I sadly predicted that Afghanistan would end just like Vietnam did. Helicopters evacuating folks from the embassy roof, etc.

Bush II and LBJ. Both did great harm to this country.

“Why are we there?”

To protect the world wide opium production. We wouldn’t have war on drugs without the drugs. We all know this is a multi trillion dollar business that involves profits for banks, politicians and federal agencies like the DEA and CIA. To continue to fool the public, the DEA and DOJ are busy blaming doctors for the opioid crisis even when opioid prescriptions are way down and opioid deaths continue to rise.

I believe that this Green Beret was a stand up guy fighting for his country, and I certainly have no doubt that he believed he was doing the right thing. But, he was duped like millions of other Americans including myself when this whole thing started after 9/11. This just shows the power of propaganda and Americans are no better resisting it than anyone else.

Indeed.

As a combat vet myself, I was extremely pleased when, then, candidate Trump touted getting out of these foreign wars with no plan for victory.

It is indeed sad to watch him under the spell of the neo-cons.

RIP Sargent Major Sartor. Your watch is over.

Point well made and I will admit that I have often thought the same thing regarding the welfare cheats who get paid more than most of our soldiers. Yes, they do. However, I always feel guilty when I think this even though it is true because it somehow cheapens his sacrifice for politics. He did not serve for money - none of them do and we should all be thankful they do not.

His sacrifice was for the man to his left, the man to his right, his family, his honor, and the country he loved. He deserves our appreciation and his family deserves our prayers.

I am humbled today Sgt. Major Sartor and eternally grateful for your life and that men like you serve.

RIP

Agreed, my point being that this wonderful Man’s sacrifice is not being given any recognition by a Media that thinks some Moronic Lesbian Soccer Player should be appointed Secretary of State by one of the 23 Stalinist Democrats running for POTUS.
