According to Chicago police, a “group of individuals” was walking toward the lakefront while another group was leaving at about 3:30 a.m., near the intersection of Fullerton Avenue and Lake Shore Drive. A verbal altercation broke out between the groups and escalated to gunfire, with individuals from both groups firing handguns at one another.
Seven individuals were struck by gunfire and transported to area hospitals, police said, and Area North detectives are currently investigating.
Two males and a female, all in their mid- to late-20s, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition with gunshot wounds to their legs, police said. Three female gunshot victims, also in their 20s, were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with injuries — one was shot in the arm, another in the shoulder and the third suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her leg. The woman with multiple injuries was listed in serious condition, the other two women in good condition.

I hear the Lincoln Park area is an upscale area. It’s not ghetto. And that makes this an unusual situation.

This was the “park” in Lincoln Park it is a wealthy neighborhood. People come from all over the city and world to the zoo and other attractions. My favorite part is the lagoon.
What the hell? The parks close at 11.
This is also where the Lincoln Park Riots occurred provoking the Democrat Convention violence in 1968.
Sounds as though David Attenborough wrote it.

Lincoln Park is very upscale. Its not near the hood at all. So this is very strange. While 3:30 am seems like nobody would be around, its not really true. That part of the city is pretty dense. People go to bars and clubbing. There is no black neighborhood around Lincoln Park. So, this would be people going to the lake front from a few miles away. And its not just going there on the L. There is no L stop near the lake. These people went out of their way to go to a place they don’t live without easy transportation. Maybe the weather has got them going to the cool lake front. And maybe there was something criminal going on with so many women being shot in this story. It could be prostitution or drugs.
As of 8:09 PM, the weekend count is 2 dead and 36 wounded.
The new good news is the ferals are woefully short on range time.
There are a very few that stretch out to 4:00 am, but none in Lincoln Park. I remember the Green Mill, up north on Broadway, being the one for late nights. The Clark Street bus was the only N/S CTA connection.
It was deliberate. The people who live on the Gold Coast and along Lincoln Park West didn't want the proles there. In fact, all the tunnels under the Howard El viaduct, which was built back a century ago, are 11 feet, since Chicago trams were double decker, and the blue collar types would have to walk sometimes as much as a mile to get to the Lake.
Lincoln Park is a decent area, parts are upscale. There's been an uptick in violence in the near North parts of Chicago. The gangbangers are mobile, they go where the money is.
Just wait until their fathers get home...
