Accused Islamic State sniper entered U.S. through “Diversity Visa Lottery”

And look how diverse he made us! After all, how many ISIS snipers were in the U.S. before he arrived? Celebrate diversity!

A man charged with joining the Islamic State (ISIS) as a sniper and firearms instructor originally came to the United States through the “Diversity Visa Lottery,” a program responsible for bringing more than half a million randomly chosen foreign nationals to the country in a single decade.
Ruslan Maratovich Asainov, 42-years-old, was charged last week in a Brooklyn, New York, federal court for aiding ISIS in 2013 when he allegedly traveled to Turkey and Syria to fight for the terrorist group.
Asainov, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency has confirmed, first arrived in the U.S. through the Diversity Visa Lottery in February 1999.
The Visa Lottery randomly gives out about 55,000 visas every year to foreign nationals from a multitude of countries, including those with known terrorist problems — such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and Uzbekistan.
Requirements for foreign nationals to win the visa lottery are low, with the foreign national only needing a high school degree and two years of work experience. Despite the weak prerequisites needed to obtain the visa, foreign nationals can later obtain green cards to permanently stay in the U.S. and after living in the country for five years can become American citizens and begin bringing their extended relatives to the country, a system known as “chain migration.”
Asainov, in September 2006, was allowed to become a naturalized U.S. citizen

This diversity lottery is the most INSANE part of our screwed-up immigration law. It was devised by Teddy Kennedy to inflict Maximum Damage.
If you are some brilliant PhD with top-notch technical skills from India and you apply for a Green Card, you are in for an 8 to 10 year trip through Bureaucrat Hell.
Whereas any random bloke can walk in off the street in Yemen, toss his name into a hat in our embassy, and become the lucky winner of one Green Card.
Islamist hellhole countries actually get priority over “oversubscribed” countries, which is absolutely nuts!
I once spoke to an Irish guy who won the diversity lottery. He told me he had entered it as the result of a pub bet with his friends! And once he won, figured, “hell, I may as well go”.
These are NOT the immigrants we want coming to this country.
The Army will probably pick him up on an H1B.
Kazahkstan has released a statement:
“It’s not true, as Borat said, that our national pastimes are ping pong, disco dancing, and rape. Only the first two are national pastimes. The third is just a hobby.”
That lottery should be ended.
We lose far too often.
Past time to do away with this insanity, “diversity visa” indeed.
He “won” that lottery the same way Whitey Bulger won that lottery in Boston. Whoever got the winning ticket got a minor payoff, and the ticket went to the big guy. Corruption works in similar ways all over the world.
The nation of Kazakhstan reportedly dropped a couple mil on PR firms trying to convince the world that “we had absolutely NOTHING to do with that movie!”
And to top it off:

Sounds more like (Russian) roulette than a lottery...
Next to letting illegal aliens stay forever and keep appealing until they win.
Another dirty little secret is that it does NOTHING to ensure diversity, quite the opposite. Also a few countries are excluded because they have a large share of immigrants already here.
However, everything else is thrown into a common pot and drawn at random. If you guessed that the share of people from $#*+hole countries who apply (and ultimately win) is close to 98%, then go to the head of the class.
When Trump put a hold on immigrant entries from certain countries to try to find a way to better sort the requests, it was destroyed by the liberals and it fell back into the mold established by federal law.
The eligibility criteria for an applicant to adjust status under the DV Program is you must establish that you:
Have been selected for a diversity visa by DOS’s lottery;
Have an immigrant visa immediately available at the time of filing an adjustment application (Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status);
and are admissible to the United States.
If you check this website put out by Homeland Security, you’ll find there are many admissions of behavior or political beliefs inconsistent with our societal needs and political stance.

But unfortunately that’s the ruling operations and decisions criteria for admission. And it opens the door for many different types of problems from public safety to a lack financial responsibilities.
