FBN’s Regan: Gun Control Could Be Trump’s ‘Nixon in China Moment’
Breitbart ^ | 9 Aug 2019 | IAN HANCHETT

(Video at Source)

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Trish Regan Primetime,” host Trish Regan argued that gun control “could be this president’s Nixon in China moment.”

Regan said, “You don’t want people who are mentally ill having guns or access to guns. The funny thing about all this, not that there’s anything funny about it...

...

...Because who would have thought that a conservative, endorsed by the NRA, would actually be out there looking at so many common sense measures and reforms. I’ll tell you, this could be this president’s Nixon in China moment.”

Total insanity and Pres. Trump will see right through it.

They are trying to play on his pride, that he has a chance to do something monumental, which will be attached to his name.

It would monumental, monumentally stupid and dangerous.

I am sure he is plenty smart enough to see through this nonsense.

She says that like it’s a good thing.

Silly woman.

More like his “read my lips, no new taxes” moment.

More like a “read my lips” moment.

I love ya Trish, but you’re ‘way off base.

That was President GHW Bush. But he got the same treatment that Nixon got.

Except Nixon didn’t have to give up all his core supporters. Admittedly, a few had known him as the guy who helped fight Communists, but most knew him after that period and liked the law and order and stop the antiwar demonstrators era.

President Trump would gamble with his 39% core support vanishing and hope that somehow the wishy washy undecideds (uninformed) will supposedly rush to embrace him.

Won’t happen.

Please don’t cross the line, Mr. President.

We have Nixon and the left to thank for the fact that China is as strong as it is today. Nixon in China was due to weakness, not strength. It was strategically a blunder.

Maybe if they promised him a Nobel prize for ‘Peace In The Homeland’ or some other made up Nobel prize, like Obama got for nothing, then, maybe Trump will jump at the opportunity.

Otherwise, if he doesn’t come with a “China moment” for guns, then, he might get accused of working with the Russians on guns.

No Minority Report!!!
No no no...

Remember, though, PDJT does this a lot...words are not his actions.

Yeah. And we all remember what happened to Nixon.

We also remember what happened to Bush when he decided to treat his "read my lips...no new taxes" promise like a joke. Trump voters have very clear expectations for the president they voted into office - they will not be OK with any infringement of Second Amendment rights.

As I wrote elsewhere, I believe in a No Quarter defense of the 2nd Amendment.

I also realize that there are 22 R senate seats up for grabs in 2020 vs 12 D seats. Three are currently tossups - 2 Rs and 1 D.

We also have an election coming up where the winner MAY have two SCOTUS nominations to fill.

If I had to guess, McConnell (RINO-KY) and Trump have talked...Yertle is planning on a vote on the background check and red flag legislation, knowing has has the nay votes but would let tossups vote yea to win their re- election. That kills it. Or...In the end, Repubs delay until some other thing occupies the news cycle, and either the Senate votes it down, or it Trump vetos it.

Or think about this...Dems send Trump gun legislation - like an "assault weapons ban" on 12 scary guns. Trump gets them to be grandfathered and be 12 firearms where ample substitutes exist - but Trump attaches to the legislation full border wall funding and deportation.

How would we feel then? If Trump signs it, campaigns on continuing the building of The Wall maybe he beats Harris/Spartacus in the Electoral College AND popular vote, and we get 2 more conservatives on SCOTUS.

Yes, it sucks. But you can't always get what you want. Politics is ugly.

I would not doubt that for a second. But that is neither here nor there. The point for me is that if President signs any gun laws, he has lost me. It may be good riddance but that is the way it is. We will see what happens.

TR was growing on me. But I saw this live FR night. She has zero credibility anymore. Lachlan Murdoch is continuing to kill the golden goose, FOX News and FBN, that his father built.

There is no upside for him to do so. It wouldn’t be his Nixon moment. It would be his Benedict Arnold moment.
