Unless I missed it, there has been precious little description of what was going on and how the prison is set up. But I gather there were just two guards, which should be plenty if all the prisoners are locked in cells. There are cameras in the halls but not pointed into the cells. It’s not clear, but from the reporting it appears the two guards, who were working continuous overtime, were supposed to check on all the prisoners every thirty minutes. That would presumably keep them moving virtually all the time. That would be impossible even for a regular shift. If this is true, then the process was set up to fail.

Other posters with prison knowledge have stated that understaffing is a common problem. My former workout buddy, a prison guard, said it was common.

It could have prevented the first one because the timing was wrong. And the people responsible for offing Epstein may have counted on the incompetence, as an aid and/or a defense.

Okay so they were over worked, sleepy, sloppy, falsified records, new to the job, and there were two of them.

So tell me why they wont just tell us they killed the guy and if we don’t mind our own business they will kill us too.

I think if anybody wanted to get Epstein bad enough that they probably ‘helped’ the already lazy-ass guards with a little sedatives in the coffee maker. Make sure that those guards who are already prone to sleeping on the job are actually going to be sleeping when the attempt is made. The first attempt obviously failed. They may only get one more shot.

Would like to know who is doing that drone footage. The one rusty did of that temple zooming in and changing images to see the spiral is some military intelligence type operator stuff.

There was no camera in Epstein’s cell. However, there are cameras in the hallways, entrances and exits, and throughout the building.

I’m betting that the cellmate killed him before being removed from the cell earlier in the evening and the rest of this is just a cover up. I would even assert that the autopsy has been falsified for time of death.

First thought I had after hearing of the ‘suicide’ was that El Chapo is in for life and he must be very angry!

Not so much for the life sentence mind you. For the inability to bribe the guards!

If any guard falsified a log entry that should be grounds for immediate dismissal. It’s sad when actual accountability is seldom seen in government.

How do we know that he hasn't escaped. perhaps they are waiting to release that information pending other information.

Having spent a few months as a federal employee I would have been surprised if the guard had not falsified the bi hourly cell checklist.

When working mandatory double shifts the first thing to suffer is non daily inspected requirements. Just a shot in the dark but wanna bet it is a purely paper record which is never digitized.

All in same color and penmanship. Think the inmates are going to tell management they had less supervision?

So with El Chapo, the MCC ran like a well oiled machine. With Epstein, all of the sudden, it’s the Keystone Cops, not even BOP guards if you can believe that.
