Bucking the open borders wing lobby, which has had an increasingly significant influence on the Democrat Party since the mid-2000s, in small yet noteworthy ways are Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) and businessman Andrew Yang.
Gabbard, despite supporting amnesty for the entire illegal population in the U.S., firmly said in the second Democrat debate her plan for tuition-free college would not be available to illegal aliens.
Senator [Bernie] Sanders believes college should be tuition-free for undocumented immigrants as well, do you? CNN anchor Don Lemon asked.
I dont, Gabbard responded.
Similarly, Yang told Breitbart News in Iowa last week that his central campaign promise to establish Universal Basic Income (UBI) would only be available to American citizens. The UBI plan, Yang says, is cheaper than the countrys current welfare system and would give $1,000 a month to every American citizen, allowing them to spend the money however they want in the U.S. economy.
Mr. Yang, does the thousand dollars a month go to people who are in the country illegally as well? Breitbart News asked.
It goes to citizens, Yang said. So it would not go to undocumented immigrants.
As Breitbart News has chronicled, the effort to institute the Democrat Party as the party of mass illegal and legal immigration is hugely unpopular among the American electorate and is being driven almost exclusively by white liberals grappling with white guilt, academic analysis has found.

So they are not for giving illegal aliens benefits, but they support amnesty to make them citizens..........
For the so-called Dreamers.
I don't know who he is but Andrew Yang Buck has a damned cool name.
It can sound like a challenge or a kiss.
Andrew Yang Buck.
Stick a fork in em Loretta! They are d-u-n. Done. Kinda hate to see Tulsi go. Nice rack, ya know.
Both are very pro-choice. Trying to cater to the morally ambiguous secular millenial stereotype common denominator.
Im a millenial and refuse to buy what they are selling.
None of them can be trusted.
How many times have Demoncrats given lip service to border security only to turn around and do nothing or invite more invaders?
So Andy and Tulsi agree -
Illegals are good as a permanent underclass - uneducated and underpaid.
As long as they vote Dem, of course...
Tulsi talks a good game about useless wars but her Iran-friendly foreign policy is woefully misguided and she implies that Trump is a warmonger, which he most certainly is not.
Kudos to her though for serving in military.
Yang is clueless in this area. Among others. Way too wishy washy.
What, you’re a millennial on FR?
The UBI plan, Yang says, is cheaper than the countrys current welfare system and would give $1,000 a month to every American citizen, allowing them to spend the money however they want in the U.S. economy.
Effin moron.
So, I would pay higher taxes, ti recieve a “Rob Peter, to pay Paul” scheme?
Why can’t I just declare a $1 million dollar dividend to myself?
Is UBI only a simple bank transaction? Does the UBI plan rip out every single Federal giveaway plan, including the massive army of welfare bureaucrats and programs, including free college and free phones?
If so, it is doomed.
She could turn into the dark horse surprise pundents are continually searching for....
“Nice rack, ya know.”
Really her downfall. Democrat women simply cannot handle ‘lookers’ as they know that lookers are interested in having men be attracted to them. Kind of like wearing perfume when hiking in the wild - you will attract bears, and your fellow hikers won’t appreciate that very much.
Tulsi is gorgeous!
Hottest congress critter, no doubt.
$1k/mo. If you could cut spending by the same amount and make all takers report in person once a year to verify/collect. I’d be ok with it. Switch Motor Motor to the program to guarantee only US citizens vote. Voter ID with pic and fingerprint.
Well that’s all for them then.
I suspect both will eventually be drummed-out of the Democrat Party for ideological disloyalty.
Who knows? With some added years of wisdom they might find their way over to our side.
