I refer you to the August 16 story that ran under the headline “Getting killed by police is a leading cause of death for young black men in America.” As is the intent, the headline is an attention-grabber. “My goodness,” the reader is expected to say, “those young black men must be getting a pretty raw deal from the police these days.” Most readers of course will not delve beyond the headline, but even those who do will not encounter anything resembling journalism as it was once practiced. Rather, they’ll find more than 1,400 words devoted to the racial-grievance agenda that drives so much of what appears in the Los Angeles Times.

Completely false.
Young black men are much more likely to be killed by other young black men.
Its actually getting killed by other black youth
Table 2: 7,851 black homicide victims.
Table 14: Total people killed by cops: 429
That is beyond absurd.
But it sure helps sell rap records.
That was my thought when I read the headline. As for the police killing them, watch a few episodes of Live PD on the A&E channel. What gets most people in trouble with police is their attitude and failure to follow the officers commands. They would rather show that hip-hop gangster attitude of I don’t have to follow the law or what anyone tells me to do and it never ends well for them.
I have watched people on this show talk themselves into tickets and in some cases a ride to the local jail just with their dumbass attitude and behavior when had they been courteous and behaved like a civilized person you probably would have got a warning if that other than a slow down and pay attention to XYZ law.
Or drug overdoses.
Clearly intended to be provocative. I don’t know what the leading causes of death are. But figure that young men shouldn’t be dying all that often anyway. So, what causes death of young men? Drugs, car accidents, suicide, then maybe getting shot by someone ranks in the top 10. Maybe getting shot by police is one of the top 10 causes causes but it still doesn’t enlighten us much. It doesn’t tell us how often it happens. And of all the shooting deaths by police (of all races) how many happened as a result of a physical altercation or criminal act by the person shot? How many were shot by ‘cops of color’? How many were investigated by civilian review boards or police departments comprised led by ‘people of color’?
Seems like race baiting. And it seems like this is what many in the media want - to stoke racial disharmony and agitation.
Way, way behind abortion, and black on black murders.
The headline could have been something like “ Most young black men leading a life of crime”.
That would have been more truthful than the outright lie they printed.

What do you mean by "leading", "Police" "Young" "Black" and "Men"
Leading would be top three, police would any law enforcement, young would be under thirty, black would be at least 50% negroid and men would be over 18 years of age.
In that context, the answer is no.
There was a chart showing the comparison of killings, black on black, black on white, white on black, white on white, police on white, police on black. I think I saved it; I’m going to look for it.
It is, at best, the SECOND leading cause after being killed by another Black youth.
A disproportionate number of young men who commit violent crime is Black. Stop shooting other people up, and you won’t have an unfortunate encounter with the police.
Maybe this should say:
“Leading police on a chase is a cause of death of young black men”
Black lives don’t matter a wit when killed by other blacks. Black lives only matter when power or money or both can be gained by making an issue of the death.
