This is a project replacing already existing old-wall. This is not new miles of wall.

Almost all of the 95 miles starting up in the Rio Grande Valley will be “new” miles.

And when they win all the eminent domain cases and actually start putting some damn pilings in the ground, then it’ll count as new miles, but until then - as far as I’m concerned - this is all a fart in the wind.

Yes. But they do not have to contend with the Supreme Court and other POS of the federal government.

I read or heard on tv that their walls are not as high as the ones built by corp of engineers. I think it was only 10 feet above ground and not as deep as the official project.

“When they win all the eminent domain cases”

The Government can condemn property and start construction any day. The cases can drag on for years, but they are just about how much the Government should pay, not about if they can take it.

A few of the other projects will include filling some gaps where there was no barrier at all before (patches of rough terrain), like the secondary barrier in San Diego (on schedule to finish in Jan), which will include 1 1/2 miles where there was not secondary barrier before, and the stretch across the San Pedro River in Arizona.

But out side the Rio Grande and Laredo sectors, where the shifting river path, subject to flooding, hurricanes and International treaty made construction very difficult and expensive, everywhere that experiences high traffic already has some kind of barrier.

It is carefully prioritized according to operational need. Building “new” miles in the wilderness, when people are actually streaming through ineffective old barriers in the border cities and the Rio Grande Valley, would just be foolish fart in the wind.

The “old wall” is the equivalent of “no wall.” Ineffective. The PSP (Marston Mat) works fine for landing helicopters on. But was not designed to be placed in an upright position and used as a “fence.” Chain link? Bolt cutters render it useless. Fence pliers, etc. Thus, the “new wall” will be just the barrier we need. From sea to shining sea.

I thought that way too, but a lot of existing wall is substandard and in key urban areas. I believe Pres. Trump is getting the best value for the dollar!

This is an interesting situation. The mainstream media have painted themselves into a corner here. After constructing the narrative that "not one mile" of wall has been built, they cannot report on all this wall construction without making liars of themselves (and giving Trump a boost in the process).

So this will be the approach they will take right up until the election:

What Trump needs to do and what I'm sure he will do is run some campaign commercials showing all the wall that has been built.

Another bull-shit post.

The so-called "existing wall" wasn't stopping anyone.

Therefore, logically, it wasn't a wall, but an excuse for a wall.

The NEW wall will stop the illegals.

Stop supporting the Left with your nonsense.

Yah, great.
Bit I still sincerely believe that our having to build walls at all is all the proof ANYONE should ever need that we are in fact at WAR with Mexico.

They are an invading force looting our country through various means while also trying to take control at several levels.
They import deadly poisons by the ton, but none dare call it chemical warfare.

The “Reconquista” BS has gone unanswered for far too long.

BTW, if your company ask me top press 2 for “Spanish”, I’m hanging up and not placing an order.

EOR.

Hey, troll-boi. The old wall wasn’t effective, or it wouldn’t have needed replacing.

Otherwise, why are all the usual suspects getting their panties in a bunch over this?

I came up with a term which I like better than wall. Border emphasis....or maybe Border upgrade. A border line for most parts in the world are imaginary lines drawn on maps and don’t have a real world counterpart unless its some natural thing like a river or other geographical line like shore or a mountain range perhaps. This barrier shows the Mexico US border is real as opposed to an imaginary line. A reality enhancement. :)
