Well as an outsider I find this surprising. I thought he’d be welcomed back & handed the nomination.

The Democrat base is rabid, hard core leftists in Colorado (maybe everywhere).

The 11 primary candidates already running for the seat are mad at NY Chuck Schumer for pre-selecting their nominee / denying the primary process where the 11 would get media coverage.

Remember when NYC Bloomberg told Rolling Stone that he was “sorry” about the recalls of two state senators over the Democrat state legislature’s gun-control laws, but added that their districts were so “rural” that, “I don’t think there’s roads.”

“In Colorado, WE ( New York ) got a law passed...”

“Well as an outsider I find this surprising. I thought he’d be welcomed back & handed the nomination.”

It all started with Hickenlooper declaring himself too important to run for Senate:

“Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, campaigning Saturday in Iowa ahead of a possible presidential run, dismissed the idea that he might end up running for Senate instead in 2020.

“I’m not cut out to be a senator,” said Hickenlooper, who added that he loves putting administrative teams together. “Senators don’t build teams. Senators sit and debate in small groups, which is important, right? But I’m not sure that’s my — I’m a doer. That’s what gives me joy.””

Lots of Dems in Colorado took that to heart and started up campaigns for Senate, and now the DNC is trying to order them out of the campaign and order the Colorado Dem Party to get behind a guy who said he wasn’t going to run because he was “not cut out to be a senator”

You can’t really blame them for getting POed, though Hick probably does have the best chance of winning. Still, it’s a really nice thing for us for them to start off with this kind of intramural infighting ... probably gonna be some butthurt that some people aren’t gonna get over ...
