Mattis swipes at Trump, warns of ‘storm clouds gathering’ amid fractured alliances

Former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis took several implicit swipes at President Trump’s leadership in an op-ed published Wednesday, warning about the fallout from fractured alliances and increasing divisiveness under the current administration.

Mattis’ comments were included in a lengthy essay adapted from a forthcoming book and published in The Wall Street Journal. They amount to the most extensive remarks from him about his time in the Trump administration since he quietly resigned in January.

Honestly my one worry if Niki Haley is brought in as VP to appeal to the women (including suburban women who think Trump’s tweets are upsetting) and Pence is dumped-——what if Pence goes negative like all the old White House people? The new traitors Trump used to trust are all over the place (Omarosa,Scaramucci and more).

Will Haley win enough impressionable voters over? And probably 1 to 10% of his base will leave and 90% realize we have to accept it.

Haley is hanging out with the Mooch. She isn’t worth spit. Never has been either.

Trump said Pence is his running mate in 2020. Why conjure up things to worry about?

Trump opened our eyes to the brutal reality of American foreign policy. We have “friends” and alliances all around based on us providing defense for the rest of the world and getting ripped off on every international trade agreement. Mattis is Deep State so he could care less, but all these foreign policy wonks in government and academia keep pushing this same model of international diplomacy. Being the world’s “Sugar Daddy” is bankrupting us. Add to that our own reckless overspending on domestic issues equals a financial disaster we’ll never fix if we keep things as they are!

I had questions about him when he let transgenders in the military, morally corrupt.

Why bring in confusion, Trump said Pence is his VP. Haley is nothing but a bushy.

“I had questions about him when he let transgenders in the military”

When that happened, I think I had some questions ANSWERED. Strange little pro-homo unmarried dude. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

What do our “Allies” do for us?

I know what we do for them. We protect them. We spend our money on defense for them. We put American lives at risk for them.

Our “Allies” do not live up to their obligations (except for maybe 1 or 2) by spending 2% GDP on defense. They, generally, cannot field more than a token amount of support far less than their economic and population should. They, generally, are not supportive of our policies and objectives. And, again generally, simply seek their own gain at our expense.

So, why do we need “Allies”?

“...including suburban women who think Trump’s tweets are upsetting...”

Why do you accept that as true?

A “suburban” woman told me she did nor like the tweets. That is because she did nor like Trump, and not that she did not like Trump because he tweeted.

Just wow! I am having a lot of trouble visualizing just what Germany, Korea, or Japan “turning on us” would look like. I suspect most of us wouldn’t notice.

The “ NATO alliance is being fractured” because the largest economy in Europe is too cheap to pay for spares for their Navy. Result being Germany was not able to deploy a single sub for quite some time last year. NATO is in desperate need of reform and that is being blocked by Germany and it’s military-industrial complex supporters.
