Speculation is that the attack came from Iraq or directly from Iran. Iraq has denied it, but it's not clear, even if Iraqi officials are on the up and up, whether they're even aware of half the stuff that Iranian spies and infiltrators as well as Iranian-controlled Iraqi militias get up to.

Saudi Arabia is fully capable of launching a counter attack against Iran.
Can't beat Iran toe-to-toe, but can certainly make them pay for the aggression.

We should stay out of this mess - it's a Sunni-Shia conflict.

Could it be deep state trying to cause a recession to get rid of Trump?

It doesn’t matter where it came from. It’ll be blamed on Iran. And Saudi Arabia will not be held accountable for anything it does that provokes its neighbors.

The consensus is that the attack was launched from Iraq. The first Iraq War began in 1990. The second Iraq War began in 2003. We are almost into 2019. What has this country gotten for the trillions of dollars and thousands of servicemen lives and tens of thousands of servicemen casualties that we have squandered on the neo-con globohomo folly of Middle East conflict that we have conducted for thirty years? The madness of the USA being the world’s policeman and always being the tip of the spear of the neo-con globohomo New World Order simply must end.

I predict that if Trump allows himself to be sucked into yet another conflict then he will lose the next election and the good ol’ US of A will cease to exist. This never-ending warmongering that we have allowed the military-industrial complex of this country to pursue will be our ruination.

Iran denied it too so what is the point? If it were them it couldn’t make sense to deny because why was it done if not to make a point?

My take is this attack carefully timed with a Bolton-Trump split meaning globalists probably did it to make Bolton look good and to portray Trump for a buffoon for ignoring him.

The attack on Abquiq is the present day equivalent of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor

When the American sanctions became unbearable, the Japanese decided to lash out and go to war.

Iran attacked Abquiq to deliver the message to Donald Trump that the sanctions must be lifted. Iranians are cowards and will never attack directly. They cower behind surrogates or in the Abquiq case, false surrogates. The question rises. How will the coalition of USA, Gulf Cooperation Council, and Israel respond. Will there be devistating sanctions on France and Germany for violating the sanctions. Will there be a kinetic attack that takes out Bandar Shapur? Will Iran be prohibited from ttending the upcoming UN meeting? Will Houthi Yemen be bombed to rubble?

Trump’s second term is going to be very interesting to watch, and very unpleasant for everyone who rebuffed his peace offerings.

The Sunni and Shia have been fighting for 1400 years. The Iran-Iraq war can be understood as a variation of that, Iran trying to expand and increase its world stature. Their nuclear program has been supported while their people suffered for the same reason.

It is very reasonable for Iran to strike Saudi Arabia. It is why they and the UAE have been aiding the Yemeni civil war in the Saudis’ backyard.

Iran benefits by striking Saudi Arabia’s oil production in several ways. It cuts off cash for a country funding Sunni terrorists that attack Shia fairly frequently. It cuts into the cash flow for a military rival. And it raises the value of Iranian oil, increasing their revenue. Cut into Saudi Arabia’s oil supply enough, and Iran may see sanctions on its oil sales lifted due to sheer need by their customers.
