This might be the least-informed gun tweet ever posted

We do our best not to pick on Twitter “randos” and stick to the politicians and blue-check comedy writers no one’s heard of, but there are those tweets that either go viral or are so jaw-droppingly wrong we can’t help but write about them. Our story starts with a post by Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky.

The number of hunting licenses sold in the United States last year was greater than the ten biggest armies in the world combined.

Politicians considering gun confiscation (aka mandatory buybacks) should chew on that.

— Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie) September 14, 2019

But when you hunt you use those rifles that are made of wood that are less scary-looking than assault weapons with their grenade launchers and chainsaw bayonets.

You can hunt without AR-15s, mon chère. https://t.co/sb8m6eZCa2

— Schuyler Smith (@schuylerannemac) September 14, 2019

Even better … you can hunt with an AR-15, which is perfectly legal to own and use. It’s up to you … and still will be in 2021.

OK, here’s where we get to the tweet where we feel like we should black out the name and set up an immediate intervention by Stephen Gutowski.

Here is the thing... I don’t think you could even eat the meat of an animal killed with a semi automatic weapon. It would be so full of shrapnel. #Beto2020 #nomorefear

We need to broadcast far and wide that places with gun laws invite criminals. Those cities with the strongest gun laws have the worst crime - check it out. That statement is undeniable. Spread it.

Chainsaws are effective only in close-order combat.

Not to minimize their effectiveness. LOL

Just one crotch upthrust could exterminate generations of urban vermin.

What an idiot. This is not a problem is long as you stay away from using the grenade launcher.

When I hunted - I gave it up because honestly I'm terrible at it - I preferred a composite stock to wood. Hunting we would be out in all kinds of weather. I realize properly cared for wood is fine but composite is easier. Now I do have several family heirlooms, meticulously cared for and a only taken to the range on sunny, cloudless days.

The fundamental problem in the "gun control" debate is a stunning, truly breathtaking lack of knowledge displayed by people who still somehow feel qualified to weigh in on various issues. Perhaps the real issue is they have heard a little bit of misinformation from MSM or friends (who got it there) and they think they know more than they actually do, virtually everything they do know is wrong, and they have no clue as to how much they don't know. But they'll put their ignorance on display...

Even with expanding hollow points a good quality bullet will stay together. A jacket separated from the core is considered bad form, fragmentation and loss of mass is also something most bullets are designed to minimize. Sure, there are exceptions, but why would you hunt for food with such a round?

Where hunting deer with 5.56mm is legal, it will work just fine with the right cartridges, good marksmanship and the normally required knowledge of anatomy. The terminal ballistics are good with military loads at close enough range (pretty close) or some of the heavier commercial hunting bullets or even properly loaded match bullets (little longer range, especially with enough barrel/velocity). Larger calibers are fine, too, of course.

“Those cities with the strongest gun laws have the worst crime - check it out.”

The lefties will catch us on that incorrect information.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate

But we do have other good arguments. For one, I’m fairly sure that murder rates have gone down since the ‘70s or even more recently. You’ll need to double check on that and get a more specific best range of years. Mass murderers do tend to choose places where others are less likely to fire at them.

Guess I just got lazy in my old age; I prefer a Phantom strike with Napalm for well done, and Whiskey Papa for extra crispy.
Also save me from having to lug my old 7.62 mm M-14 around.

(yes, legitimate military surplus at the time of purchase in 1973)

Can we have DiFi explain to us what an *assault weapon* is? Just one more time? Please?

Time was when Grandpop and Dad taught that to junior at a young age.

Bullets designed for varmint hunting do exactly what you describe. They’re designed to fragment and dump all their energy within inches and as little damage to the hide as possible. Every few years we have to do a cull hunt on the ranch and take off whitetail does and inferior bucks. I carry a 243 in the truck, used mainly on coyotes and feral hogs. I shoot 58 grain V-Max at just under 4000 ft per second, I’ve never shot through a coyote with his round. I use the same rifle on the cull hunt with excellent results. Understand I take neck shots only but even them it will not exit. We lose the neck meat (Not many use it anyway) but the remainder is untouched. When we have them processed we loss no meat to damage. Two years ago we took 75 deer off the ranch in two days. Hit a feral hog in the lung/liver area with one of these and you rarely have a survivor. Good thing is they don’t just die on the spot and I don’t have to haul them to the dump. Just encase your wondering the deer are processed and all the meat is donated to Hunters for the Hungry. We do nothing with the hogs.

I’ve gotten to the point where I believe all democrats should be sterilized 5 minutes after registering as a dem to protect the future of America. It’s inhumane to see them multiply.
