Iran’s president called Sunday on Western powers to leave the security of the Persian Gulf to regional nations led by Tehran, criticizing a new U.S.-led coalition patrolling the region’s waterways as nationwide parades showcased the Islamic Republic’s military arsenal.
Rouhani spoke from a riser at the parade in Tehran, with uniformed officers from the country’s military and its paramilitary Revolutionary Guard beside him. The cleric later watched as goose-stepping soldiers carrying submachine guns and portable missile launchers drove past as part of “Holy Defense Week,” which marks the start of the Iran-Iraq war in 1980.
Rouhani said Iran was willing to “extend the hand of friendship and brotherhood” to Persian Gulf nations and was “even ready to forgive their past mistakes.”
He said Iran’s plan would focus on providing security in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman “with help from regional countries.” Iran has boosted its naval cooperation with China, India, Oman, Pakistan, and Russia in recent years.

The sanctions are putting a big squeeze on Iran. They are causing ruinous inflation, food shortages and social unrest. Iran is lashing out in frustration. However all this bluster from the mullahs is a big bluff. They know if shooting were to start Netanyahu will use the opportunity to destroy the Iranian threat to Israel and the Jewish people. Israeli stealthy drones, F35 fighters with precision ordnance and on the ground Mossad will destroy Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, kill key nuclear personnel and put a big hurt on the “revolutionary guards”. Netanyahu will never leave office while the Iranian threat remains intact. However the Iranians are right about their assessment of the vile 9/11 Saudis. Despite incredible wealth and a cache of the world’s most sophisticated weaponry, the 9/11 Saudis cannot defeat half starved Yemini rebels or defend their homeland. If Trump is smart, he would continue the sanctions and let the locals do the shooting and bleeding.

‘Leave the Persian Gulf alone’ so Iran can bomb Saudi oil fields without detection is what Iran President Rouhani really meant. Those clowns fought for 7 years with Iraq to a stalemate. We walked all over Iraq in a matter of days. We will do the same to Iran when somebody gets the intestinal fortitude to shut their mouths.
