During a special two-hour edition of The Lead Friday titled “The White House in Crisis,” host Jake Tapper and the panel repeatedly compared President Trump to former President Richard Nixon as they focused on the impeachment drama that has engulfed Washington and the media.
While they spent most of the segment making Trump-Nixon comparisons, the panel also noted a few differences in the situations faced by the current and former President. For instance, Tapper complained that unlike Nixon, President Trump has Fox News and conservative political websites to carry his water for him.
Eventually, Tapper asked the panel to weigh in on “the Republican reaction to this.” He singled out Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz as a member of “the Kool-Aid drinkers, the ones who will just defend President Trump no matter what.” Tapper proceeded to ask CNN Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash if the Republicans she talked to understood that it “looks really, really bad” when they defend President Trump.
After Bash finished explaining the Republicans’ calculations on how to respond to the impeachment push, Tapper argued that while “Nixon had a much better legal apparatus to defend him, and Bill Clinton did as well, during their impeachments than President Trump has,” President Trump “has something that Nixon did not have. He has Fox News. He has an army of trolls. He has sites, web sites that will defend anything he says or does.”

Tapper’s stuck. If CNN ever folds, he can’t do a good job drawing comic strips, either. (He guested for Dilbert this week ... awful!)
I remember the Watergate hearings back then. Some were held in closed session due to top secret info being talked about. Upon dismissal for the day, the Congressmen were told NOT to say what had been discussed.
They immediately lit a shuck for the nearest camera and microphone and spilled their guts about what was discussed in the closed meetings.

so what jake is saying is that if Nixon had a platform to get the truth out he would not have been ousted out of office.
Fox News is exactly like any other outlet of the Ministry of Propaganda except for their prime time and morning shows.

Those of us of a certain age remember what happened after we got out of Vietnam. There was no war to cover anymore and the media people had to jump on something else in order to earn their paycheck. They jumped on Nixon and didn’t let up. Just think of the thrill and power they felt when they drove him out of the White House. They got a taste of omnipotence and they like it. They’re going for it again.

The Left is certainly dedicated in their lying. A two hour special with panelists to just repeatedly lie. They may be so deranged at this point, however, that they could actually pass a lie detector test and may actually believe the lies they are telling.
They have yet to even report what President Trump supposedly did wrong. The transcript does not match the allegations they are making - they think we can’t just look up the transcript and read it for ourselves and be able to tell they are lying about its contents? That we can’t tell they skip over entire paragraphs to make it appear he said things that he did not? But supposedly we will “defend anything he does” because we don’t fall for their blatant lies and look up the facts for ourselves. What else can he make an example of to show a history of this? That we didn’t buy into their 3 years of deliberate false reporting on the Russian Collusion hoax? That we don’t buy into them still lying 2 years later that President Trump said there were “good” neo-Nazis - something he never, ever said? It’s all a lie. There’s not “defending” him over doing this things that never actually occurred.

They have to be hoping that Trump resigns. They cannot afford to give him the ability to call witnesses. He could probably end this with a mention of Chelsea and some of the others involved.
Bush has 1/4 of Fox News at best. Actively opposing him is EVERY SINGLE NEWS OUTLET IN THE COUNTRY.
For all that Nixon was a really tough fighter, at the end he was out there almost all alone. He had no defenders in the press, almost none in the Capitol, and fewer every day out in the far reaches of America. The propaganda tools used against him had finally gained enough traction to pry his hands off the levers of power.
Like the Founding Fathers, who had pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, Nixon fought to the last ditch, only to learn it emptied into a bottomless cesspool. Nixon was essentially exiled within his own country.
Knowing all this could be turned against him as well, Donald J. Trump STILL walked into the lions’ den.
Several lions already rue the day. If the rule is “Take no prisoners”, then there is only one alternative.
Winning might not be everything, but losing isn’t anything.
Jake Tapper should look into the claim by the main stream media that “there is no evidence” that Joe Biden or his son did anything wrong. There is a video of Joe Biden bragging that $1 billion was withheld from Ukraine until the prosecutor was fired. The democrats used video of Trump during the presidential campaign in their court case against the third travel ban. This video of Joe Biden does count as evidence.
They know that many will not look for themselves.
