Bernie Sanders Suffered Heart Attack Earlier This Week, Campaign Says
Wall Street Journal ^ | October 4, 2019 | Eliza Collins

The Sanders campaign said Friday that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders had a heart attack earlier this week, disclosing more details about the health scare that has temporarily sidelined his presidential bid.

The 2020 presidential candidate left the hospital Friday afternoon. The update on Mr. Sanders’s health comes two days after the campaign said he had two stents put in a coronary artery after suffering chest pain during a campaign event Tuesday night in Nevada.

“After presenting to an outside facility with chest pain, Sen. Sanders was diagnosed with a myocardial infarction. He was immediately transferred to Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, ” his physicians Drs. Arturo E. Marchand Jr. and Arjun Gururaj said in a statement.

“His hospital course was uneventful with good expected progress. He was discharged with instructions to follow up with his personal physician,” they said.

“After two and a half days in the hospital, I feel great, and after taking a short time off, I look forward to getting back to work,” Mr. Sanders said in a statement.

The Sanders campaign has canceled his coming events, but said he is expected to be on the Oct. 15 debate stage.

Mr. Sanders’s health issue sidelines him at a time when he is struggling to gain momentum against former Vice President Biden and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren in national polls, though he has consistently been polling in the top tier of the crowded Democratic field.

The heart attack also highlights the issue of age in the race. Mr. Sanders the oldest candidate at 78 years old. Mr. Biden is 76, and Ms. Warren is 70. The eventual nominee will take on Republican President Trump, who is 73.

Mr. Sanders has kept a packed campaign schedule and traveled across the country since announcing his run for president in February.

This will peel off enough supporters and send them to Princess Grey Beaver that she’ll win the nomination.

The heart attack also highlights the issue of age in the race.

Why does someone always have to bring race into it?

...has temporarily sidelined his presidential bid.

When you are an old buzzard like Sanders, a heart attack sidelines you until your reincarnation.

I never wish harm to anyone, but this is an occasion for the old Jewish saying,

“You should drop dead in good health.”

He shouldn’t have gone to an American hospital. He should have immediately gone to Cuba where he could have enjoyed the special care one gets under socialized medicine.

“Mr. Sanders has kept a packed campaign schedule and traveled across the country since announcing his run for president in February.”

There you have it. If Bernie has been away from Capitol Hill for all of the past eight months, then the voters of Vermont are under-represented. Or did they re-elect Bernie just so he can run for the White House?

A nearly 80 year old man by inauguration day who has serious heart disease and would shoulder the Presidency? Time’s up Senator.
