No Judges Confirmed Since September 11th

Posted on 10/09/2019 5:36:28 PM PDT by cotton1706

When the Senate reconvened after its lengthy summer break, it confirmed 6 judges that were supposed to be confirmed in June.

There have been none since.

Mitch is dragging his feet again.

Two more circuit court nominees coming up.

Granite has said he would honor blue slips for district judges, which is why there has been a slowdown. We pretty much have all red state district judges confirmed.

With the House in an insane crazy breakdown, it’s doubly- important that the Senate begin to function.

The Senate is functioning.

From Zen Master: “Lagoa and Luck (Eleventh Circuit nominees) will get their hearing next Wednesday.

A Bush43 district judge announced he’ll assume senior status in March. There are 27 other GOP-appointed district judges eligible to do so prior to the election; I hope they all follow his lead.”

As I said, Lindsay Granite has said while he will NOT honor blue slips for appellate court judges, he will honor them for district court judges and Trump has pretty much filled all those he can fill at the moment.

If Trump hadn't curb-stomped Cankles, we'd be three years into the takeover of the country by Democrat Federal judges.

The EneMedia would be masking it, of course - but we'd be seeing a steady stream of "A Federal judge today ruled..." on whatever piece of Full Socialist nonsense was on the list for that week.

This week the Republican-led Senate confirmed 13 new federal judges, bringing Donald Trump’s total to 144.

—99 district judges
—43 circuit judges
—2 Supreme Court justices

An extraordinary pace.

All lifetime appointments, nearly all of them are in their 30s, 40s or 50s.

And of those 6, 2 were confirmed by VOICE VOTE (I.e., not a single Democrat objected). When was the last time that happened in this time of Resistance? 2 more were confirmed by votes of 94 - 0 and 90 - 1 respectively. That is certainly not “resistance”. The last 2 had 13 & 18 votes against them; far lower than the standard “No” votes in the high 30s and high 40s.

What those votes tell me is that Schumer rubber stamped these 6.

Yes. And thank Yertle. He held ups dozens of these judges in 2015.

Lindsay Graham needs to shut the hell up about Syria and get back to work confirming judges.

Gramnesty could easily honor the Constitution (which no where says a single Senator or two Senators can effectively VETO a Presidential Judiciary nomination).

There are 75 of Trump’s Judicial nominees pending confirmation in the Senate (of which 54 are pending in Lindsey Graham’s Judiciary Committee). This is INEXCUSABLE! Graham needs to no longer allow the DemocRATS to use the Blue Slip process to stop consideration of Trump’s nominees. And McConnell needs to schedule confirmation votes on nominees quicker after they’re out of the Judiciary Committee.

There are 4 District Judges scheduled for confirmation vote the week the Senate returns from recess on October 15th.

You call Graham “Granite”. To me he more like slippery slime.

Hmmm ... there were 112 judicial vacancies when Trump assumed office. Yertle has cause that number to PLUNGE to107 vacancies. And, yes, I’m obviously being facetious.

You sure are a big fan and apologist of MEDIOCRITY. IMHO we can do far better than “Gentleman’s C’s”

Graham needs to get going on the nominees.

Good people don’t like to be jerked around.

Ordinary people are made to work to the max and they have no toleration for slackers.

“Mitch is dragging his feet again.”

really? how do you know that? Exactly how many judicial nominations are before the Senate right now that are having their feet “dragged” by Mitch? or are you just making up bullshit?

I cannot say hat I have been a big fan of Mitch McConnell. However, he alone refused to push thru Obamas pick to replace Justice Scalia and for that we are so thankful for the makeup of the court. And, the sheer amount of constitutional judges that President Trump has nominated and McConnell has pushed thru the senate may be the most long term effect felt from this President!
