Whistleblower: Google Partners with China on ‘AI Manhattan Project’
Breitbart ^ | 10/14/2019 | LUCAS NOLAN

Posted on 10/15/2019 7:27:22 AM PDT by bitt

Former Google senior software developer and whistleblower Zach Vorhies appeared on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with host Rebecca Mansour Friday to discuss Google’s relationship with Communist China and the company’s artificial intelligence project DeepMind, which has been called the “AI Manhattan Project.”

LISTEN:

Mansour asked Vorhies about Google’s business engagements in China.

“Google has gotten in trouble in the past for doing business with the Communist government of China,” Mansour said. “And I wanted to ask you were those efforts ongoing when you were with the company? Can you give us any insight into that? Because it was quite troubling.”

“So Google bought this AI company called DeepMind,” Vorhies replied. “Let me just put it in plain language what that is, DeepMind was creating a god-like AI system that is able to ingest the available public information on the internet and make sense of it. Think of it like Amazon Alexa except much much much more intelligent. This AI system was moved out of the UK I believe and placed into China, and it’s been dubbed the AI Manhattan Project.”

Vorhies continued: “Peter Thiel — he accused Google of acting in a treasonous way. This is how serious this project is. It’s the most sophisticated and advanced AI project in the world made by an American company and placed in China.”

I don’t anticipate consciousness or independence from an AI anytime soon.

But I think machines will be processing massive data and determining what data to pursue for further processing. That’s a kind of AI. A machine could “see” a solution that humans would not see and might not understand. But people might find it profitable to just go and do what the machine says. That’s not Skynet, but it’s still a little scary.

This is not about real machine thinking.
This is about searching the internet for specific patterns and identifying content, who created it and reads it.

This is a key part of “Net Neutrality” and they are already in the testing phase.
Right now they have parts automatically searching the internet for content they find “objectionable”.
The problem is much of it is incorrect so they need people to identify errors and feed back changes to design.

Right now they claim a failure rate of 50-70% but they have teams all over the USA working on it.
Most are hiding under the label of “non-profit” so no one looks at them and they get tax exempt funding.

I ran into a small part of the group last summer and decided to go underground and gather more information.

Anyone who wants to see this in action, a fair representation is “The Circle” (Forrest Gump and Hermione Gingold). Our robot overlords won’t be robots per se, but AI systems with access to MASSIVE amounts of collected and correlated data.

To get a feel for how cheap data are, price a 1 terabyte hard-drive. Don’t even have to shop, just BB or Tarjee or wallyworld. CHEAP!

overlooked: artificial muscle

Over the weekend I watched a landscaper grade a yard with what might be called a large Bobcat (it was a Caterpillar product). He flung that thing around like it was his ballet partner.

Think of all of the jobs lost due to that machine.

Operator’s intelligence, machine’s muscle. What a combnination!

To add to your statement I would go even farther and this is in practice now with Google, Amazon and other major data brokers and what I call major data miners. All these outfits are using massive DB’s to fire systems at them to create smart buying systems. These are often called AI systems but they are in fact data crunchers to see how an individual shops. The goal is to see how you shop and make the choice before you do. Every click, purchase or search is put in to these DB’s and used for this purpose.

Its scary tech and worse when you think of it on the human scale and what governments would do with it.

Notice how progressive Democrats are never troubled with things like “Internment Camps”, “social credit scores”, “organ harvesting”, etc. They were friends with Hitler before they were against him. They loved Uncle Joe, and now they love the Chi-Coms

This anecdote is going to add to the subtlety of the robot overlords process, but...

The day after a telephone call with a buddy where several random topics were discussed, popup ads on news sites contained ads targeted toward some of the topics discussed the day before....

I have been exposed t this tech for last 6 years or so at Microsoft/HP and other tech groups in R&D. This stuff is coming and it will be used as a form of control. The cool shine of the tech and products will wear off and then the tools get changed and its not for the collective good. This stuff is extremely dangerous.
