Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) told the Atlantic on Sunday that he believes the Democrats impeachment inquiry investigating President Donald Trump will serve as an inflection point in American history.
Atlantic staff writer McKay Coppins released an interview on Sunday detailing extended conversations with Romney regarding his views on the U.S. Senate, his attacks on President Trump, as well as his opinions on impeachment.
Coppins wrote that while most Republicans have backed the president amidst the impeachment inquiry, Romney continues to stay open to the idea that the president may need to be evicted from the Oval Office.
Sen. Romney said that he believes that the potential impeachment will serve as a critical juncture in American history.
I do think people will view this as an inflection point in American history, Romney said.
I dont look at myself as being a historical figure, the failed 2012 Republican presidential candidate said. However, Romney adds, I do think these are critical times. And I hope that what Im doing will open the way for people to take a different path.
Sen. Romney also suggested that Trumps performance in office is directly linked to his character.
Berating another person, or calling them names, or demeaning a class of people, not telling the truththose are not private things, Romney said. If during the campaign you pay a porn star $130,000, that now comes into the public domain.

Romney is just a consistent reminder that there is a uniparty and America has been sold a bag of lies throughout the years.
Of the many sins I have committed in my life that points me towards Hell, voting for this jackass is one of them.
I cannot stand obama, but I do respect the fact he is loyal to his party.
Every time I take a bowel movement, I’ll have a Mitt moment. You know, as an inflection point into the future.
I’m so ashamed that I voted for this worm.
Romney isnt wrong, this democrat impeachment IS an inflection point. If democrats succeed with their concocted partisan impeachment, it WILL become normal fare for a house majority opposite the presidents party, to allege an infraction and then launch a partisan impeachment inquiry. EVERY time democrats stretch the edge of the envelope, it ends up biting them back in short order.
How has Romney become the most important, the most publicized politician these days?? He means nothing to me, and frankly I don’t want to read or hear his opinions!! He is a has-been and not worthy of attention.
Milt IS loyal to his party.
The RINO party.
Only for Democrats. Republicans just want to get along with their “colleagues.”
Willard does this when he is drunk,
before he abuses dogs and little animals.
CNN must be hiring.
We're negotiating with China over trade. Is that not quid pro quo?
The 2016 election was controversial...not over who won...there is no doubt that The President won over Hillary.
But there is still some wondering as to what the hell REALLY happened behind the scenes. I heard Joe brag....and no one says boo. Amazing.
Mitt misspelled infection.
Romnuts can assume room temperature before the 2020 primary season even begins for all I care.
What a worthless sack of *hit.
That is their M.O. I hope after the Trump experience, many new young republican representatives take a thought than Ryan stance.
And the Atlantic would have just ignored him if he hadn’t followed their script...
Because he’s very ignorable.
How has Romney become the most important, the most publicized politician these days??
An old rancher is talking about politics with a young man from the city. He compares a politician to a “post turtle”. The young man doesn’t understand and asks him what a post turtle is.
The old man says, “When you’re driving down a country road and you see a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle. You know he didn’t get up there by himself. He doesn’t belong there; you wonder who put him there; he can’t get anything done while he’s up there; and you just want to help the poor, dumb thing down.”
We should send some of these wanna-be and never-were asshats to countries like, say, Venezuela, and let them run for office. It would be fun to watch them and see how much worse they can eff things up. I can see someone like Mittens or Hitlery wearing sashes loaded with meaningless medals within a year.
